**** I don't understand this, Diane ... I mean you **had** to expect "Hannibal" was going to be a dark and grim film, no ?? It's a film involving a serial killer, not exactly "Kindergarden cop" ... It is perfectly fine if you don't want to see those types of film anymore but then why CHOOSE to go see "Hannibal" ?? Why not go see "The wedding planner" with Jennifer Lopez for example ... I'm sure you would have liked that one better since it's a light comedy ...

**** In fact, I think there are too many silly movies being made these days, the opposite of you, too many "Wedding planner" "Road trip" "Coyote ugly" and "Big momma's house" and not enough "The war zone" "Chuck and Buck" "Boys don't cry" and "Hannibal" ... But I prefer more "serious" movies so this is why I am kind of sick and tired of movies like "Saving Silverman" ... they should be banned !

**** Hehe !! Well, again, why not stick to the light comedies if you don't want to see people suffering ??

Also, as I said in a prior post, I am getting older. I'll be 40 this
year and I don't really see the need for all of the dark themes in
movies lately.
<snip...snip...snip>
So I guess what I'm getting across here is that I realized while
watching "Hannibal," that I'm kind of in a mid-life crisis in my
movie-going life. I'm feeling disjointed, disconnected (however you
want to put it) with society and the main stream.

See, that's where me and you are very similar. I absolutly love Citizen
Kane, Groundhog Day is a brilliant comedy/movie of any genre, and I was
flabergasted with Truman Show. These were all movies with a deep
directorial vision and were not sculpted to audience specifications but to
the vision of an auteur. I just happen to also like other kind of non-Big
Momma House movies, like Begotten and Eraserhead. You would probably like
these too.
PS - If you liked Groundhog Day, what did you think of Clerks and Kevin
Smith's other movies. I think Clerks ties for my fav comedy with Groundhog
Day.

Sorry to say I haven't gotten around to "Clerks" yet. Haven't seen
any other Kevin Smith movies that I can think of.
It's nice to see that we have a common ground. This is where we meet
and shake hands. Then we can look at the ground that is not so
common and teach each other about it. That's how I see it.

Interview with Anthony Hopkins
===============================
Question : "What is your worst nightmare ??"
- - "I often dream that I forget my lines and that I lose my shoes just before going on the set. That has never happened to me but in those nightmares I simply can't remember what I have to say and I just stand there without my shoes ..."
Question : "What made you decide to appear in "Hannibal" ??"
- - "I never said I wanted to retire, I only took a year off. When I was asked to be Lecter again I was thrilled because I liked the story. I was disappointed that Jodie (Foster) didn't want to be in this one for her own personal reasons. I talked to her about it but
I didn't try to convince her to change her mind. Julianne (Moore) is a very good actress and we got along well on the set. I also love acting, it brings me a lot of joy. Each time it is a challenge because you never know if you will win or lose, it's a gamble ..."
Question : "Will there be another film in this series ??"
- - "I would like to do another film as Hannibal Lecter but it would have to be made quickly, within a year or two. I already have the first draft of a scenario and Julianne (Moore) is interested as well ..."

Subject: [MV] Feeling Minnesota - 1996
Alright, I saw this film again last night, my 2nd time seeing it ... 3/5.
It is actually kind of romantic in part, lovers on the run, so I could include it in my list of "Favorite romantic films" I guess ... It's the same as "True romance" for example ... there are some
nasty parts in both films but also pretty good love stories !
Keanu Reeves and Vincent D'Onofrio play brothers who are constantly arguing and fighthing, especially after their mother dies !
Cameron Diaz (She is so lovely in this film too, wow !) is a young woman who is "forced" to marry D'Onofrio because she owes him money, gangsters are also involved (Delroy Lindo, wow, look at those hair !)
Love the opening sequence where we see Diaz running in her wedding dress and high heels as she is pursued by Lindo and his "crew" in a car ... excellent !
Diaz hates D'Onofrio and doesn't want to have anything to do with him even if she just got married (Funny scene where she slaps him in the face when he is trying to kiss her !) but she definately likes Reeves so she leaves town with him with D'Onofrio in hot pursuit ...
Courtney Love has a small part as a waitress and Dan Akroyd plays a crooked cop.
Nice mix of action and comedy in this "road movie" ... I like the first half especially then it gets a bit too silly in the 2nd half but the first half is good enough to carry the film a long way ...
The acting is ok, well, Keanu Reeves has been better (I s'pose !), anyway the film doesn't require top notch acting skills !
The soundtrack is also good and we hear the song "Ring of fire" (Is that the title ?) quite a few times during the movie ... catchy !
