??? actually, Thomas posted that e-mail about never having walked out of a
movie, although I have never walked out of a movie I paid for (I did leave
during Kingpin, but that was at a free showing. I even sat through all of
a "Portrait of a Lady", and that was definitly masoachistic.)

Yes, I do think that the first Star Trek movie was the best of them all.
The story was uncanny yet simple at the same time.
I try to watch again and again all the Star Trek movies but so far I
have never seen the last one (the borg thing). I used to watch the
original series (with Kirk and Spock) and the new generation (with
Piccard).
I think producers should make more intelligent scifi movies.

Bruce-
Nice to see you back on the board big guy!
It's a good thing I didn't use your first 25 minutes test for the film The
Fifth Element. I thought the first 30 minutes or so was really boring, but
then it got pretty good.
I loved Milla Jovovich in that movie (Isn't she a cutie?) as LeeLoo.
I thought she gave one of the best performances (and most original I might
add) I've ever seen.
Overall, an enjoyable movie, even with the slow start.

KG:
It's funny you should mention Kingpin. They filmed much of this movie right
down the street from where I used to live in Western Pennsylvania. The
place called Munson's auto is really a beer distributorship and still has
the sign up that was painted for the movie. I never saw the movie though. A
movie about bowling just doesn't appeal to me. Of course, I do like Woody
Harrelson and Bill Murray and if I would watch it, it would be because of
them.

Hear, hear!!! But I do think they try --- sometimes, at least --- it's just
they find "intelligence" too hard to plug into their formulas and go for
jargon and "look" instead. And then they seem to design the plot by committee

Give me a keen idea and clever plotting (logical, consistent, organic) and I'm

Speaking of which, has anyone seen a movie called "The Grave", with Craig
Sheffer? From the early 90s, I think, and out on video. That was cleverly
plotted. No, it's not a schlock-horror carve-'em-up -- it's a
crime/betrayal/retribution kind of mix. Not high-budget, not high-concept,
but I found it highly entertaining!

I'm looking forward to watching this movie on tv (USA Network) tomorrow
night. It stars a very young Matt Damon, Ben Affleck (Are these guys in
every movie together, or what???) Brendan Fraser and Chris O'Donnell.
Quite a cast! I'm usually not big on these "school days dramas" but this
one may be different. The preview looked pretty good anyway. Anybody seen
it, and if so, any comments on it...

I was thinking the same this about Damon and Affleck. Those guys are
everywhere now.
So the big Asteroid (or is it meteor) movie comes out this weekend?
I hope its good. I'd love to see a good gut wrenching disaster flick
about now.
I watched Lost Highway by the way and will give my opinion about it
when I get back. I haven't had time to think about it and it
certainly needs thinking about. David Lynch always manages to leave
me with one awful image that makes me shiver and I guess the old
coffee table through the head is the one for this movie.
I'm off for the next 8 days on business. I'm tired of traveling and
want to stay home and work in my vegetable garden!!! And I miss my
dog!!! And my love life is suffering as well!!! Ok, ok, sorry for
the venting.

I have already seen this movie, I remember Matt Damon, Brendan Fraser
and Chris O'Donnell in it but can't recall Ben Affleck. This is probably
because he wasn't well known during that time.
The movie is pretty good and the main star is of course Brendan Fraser
(one of his serious roles). It is about discrimination of Jews and how
Brendan tries to hide his identity. I can't recall what happened in it
since this is one of the movies that simply slip away due to the other
"big" movies that were shown at the same time.

It is a great movie. I loved it. What sucks is that you can't find it on
video. They stopped making it. :( I was lucky enough to record it off
of HBO (shh ;-] ). Anyway, great movie. I think it's Brendan's best

The two that I can think of that have not yet been mentioned are Nuts (one
of the few Streisand movies I can watch) and Final Analysis. Heaps of
courtroom dramas seem to centre on this as well.
You could also do a search at IMDb on psyche movies.

Subject: [MV] Great Expectations soundtrack
Need to ask three questions about the soundtrack for the movie Great
Expectations:
1) Does anybody know if there is a classical soundtrack for the movie, that
is available in the market? I thought the classical soundtrack was quite
beautifully done, but a pity that there was only ONE classical track on the
soundtrack that I bought...
2) Could anybody help to translate the lyrics in "Besame Mucho"? For those
who haven't got the soundtrack, the lyrics go:
Besame
Besame Mucho
Besame
Besame Mucho
Que tengo miedo perderte, perderte despues
3) I thought I heard an English version of the song. What was the title of
that song in English? And how do the lyrics go?
Would appreciate any form of assistance, or where I could go look for help.
Thank you.

Have you watched "The Man In The Iron Mask"? Many critics say that he has a
forgetable role in that movie, but I would beg to differ. While I admit
that his talents were very much under-utilised, alongside DiCaprio, Irons,
Depardieu, Brynes, but I thought Malkovich outshone the other actors.
Personally, I thought Jeremy Irons would be more convincing as a musketeer
but Malcovich just blew me away, from the the middle of the movie...
Well, I had to say "from the middle of the movie", because initially, he
wasn't very convincing as a father character, but his display of patience
and affection towards Phillipe really warmed my heart. Thought it was very
different from his "Of Mice And Men" days... having matured into another
category of roles. Let's hope we will see more of him...
