Gee Masako, I wish I knew what was playing over there so I could give
a suggestion. The Truman Show is probably going to be in Japan very
soon. It is being called the most touching film in quite a while.
We have been berating Hollywood for quite a while for recycling
storylines. While I problably complain as much as anybody the bottom
line is how well the story is told. NObody complains about Edward
Scissorhands or Star Wars or any of the other well made movies that
retell a familiar story. I don't think the problem is recycling
stories but instead recycling stories badly. How many Hamlets have
we had in the past 5 years? And now I hear there is another one
coming.

A great film. Yeah - I know - you've seen the ads - you've heard the hype "Here comes another Jim Carrey movie!" Just give this one a chance if you're not a fan of the rubberband man. If you are a fan then I do believe you will also not be disappointed (no talking through ass though). The concept for this film needs to be applauded, I think, and Peter Wier needs an applause for making it work. Very easily could this have turned into a "just-for-laughs" gag-fest - but as Wier has done in the past with Robin Williams (Dead Poets Society) he makes an actor out of Jim. "I'm a doctor, not an actor Jim" (sorry). This is also a film that makes you think about things and talk about "what-ifs" after the show. Go and see the Truman Show - I give it a 93%. Best movie of the year (so far!)

HOLLYWOOD (Variety) - Dimension Films is employing scary tactics for its latest scary movie.
The Miramax genre division has given its slasher thriller "Halloween: H2O" an Aug. 5 release date, pitching it directly against MGM's teen horror picture "Disturbing
Behavior," which goes wide Aug. 7.
In "Halloween: H20," Jamie Lee Curtis reprises her role as Laurie Strode who once again takes on her knife-wielding nemesis, Michael Myers.
"Disturbing Behavior" is about a kid who stumbles upon a small-town conspiracy to convert rebellious teens into clean-cut, upstanding citizens.
Miramax co-chairman and Dimension founder Bob Weinstein claims that "Halloween: H20" scored even better than "Scream" in test screenings. Independent
sources verified the findings.
"I'm not worried about ("Disturbing Behavior")," Weinstein said. "But (MGM) is going to have to think twice. If I were them, I'd move."
MGM, however, says that it is not budging.
"We have a young, teen thriller in the vein of 'I Know What You Did Last Summer,' and they have a sequel," said Larry Gleason, MGM's worldwide theatrical
distribution presideny. "Our film is finished, we have posters up, and we've had trailers in theaters since Memorial Day. As of today, we aren't moving."
Gleason believes that "Disturbing Behavior" has a secret weapon in teen sensation Katie Holmes ("Dawson's Creek"), who appears in the picture alongside James
Marsden and Nick Stahl.
Either way, on the weekend of Aug. 7, both films will be up against the big-budget action/thriller "Snake Eyes," starring Nicolas Cage and Gary Sinise. Like the
other two films, the Paramount/Disney co-production skews to young males.
The following weekend, Aug. 14, Universal pitches in with its alien action movie "Virus," starring -- yes -- Curtis, and Warner Bros. releases its comedy-thriller
"The Avengers," starring Ralph Fiennes and Uma Thurman.

I think that there should be a sequal to the movie "My best friends wedding". Because none of us wanted it to end that way and i think that there would be a good audience who would go and see what else could happen to the story.
