You'll be happy to know then, Anita, that 6 Days, 7 Nights which comes out this summer - is a "blood sweat and cuts" kinda Harrison ford movie - as he is trapped on an island with Anne Heche...in the preview they actually used Indy music!
Decent list..but Fifth Element?? I admit - I enjoyed that film for the first 2/3rds but then that crackpot of a character comes in - Chris Tucker - with no point to him at all and ruins the whole film for me....I mean without him I enjoyed it - but now I will never ever see a Chris Tucker film (I just heard that he got paid $11 mil for a flick!!! What the hell is that about!)

Subject: RE: [MV] A new topic - Fritz Lang & Luis Bunuel
Date: 16 Apr 1998 18:44:33 -0700
Well - I won't respond to your comment about "sucking out loud" but I'm glad you brought up Luis Bunuel - another amazing director whom I enjoy. Has anyone had a tast of the Bunuel? Exterminating Angel is a wild ride about a group of bourgeouis who cannot leave a room in a hous - even though there are no physical restrictions holding them back - it's pretty wierd. Also Phantom of Liberty has got to be one of my favourites - a look at many things in society with a humourous and wierd angle that is told in a vignette style...very cool! Some of his stuff is pretty unapproachable - but those two (plus Un Chien Andalou) are pretty wacky.

Well JRiley...I doubt that you are a bigger fan than I! His next film is 6 Days, Seven Nights with Anne Heche and directed by Ivan Rietmman and his next flick is Random Hearts where he will be a ghost. In your list you forgot a movie in which he was nominated for an Oscar!! Witness! A great flick from Peter Wier - who will have The Truman Show with Carrey out this summer. For the sappy - there's regarding Henry (which was actually pretty good) and Sabrina, for the comedic there's The Frisco Kid with Gene Wilder -Oy!- and Working Girl, and for the suspenseful - let's not forget about Roman Polanski's Frantic!! I'm sure the next few posts are all about this but I haven't read them yet...:-)

regarding to what you said about "chris tucker bieng a crackpot of an actor". I personally think that he is a very funny and very comical actor. For instance some movies such as "Money Talks", and "Friday", would not have been good movies without the help of Chris Tucker. Anyone who says that about such a comical actor doesn't know a thing about comedy!!!!!

They just re-released M in the theatres last year...unfortunately I didn't get a chance to see it but I heard they really cleaned it up and did the subtitles over again - the one that is currently available has very few subtitles compared to the amount of talking that goes on!

I'd have to go back alittle whiles in the year to get 3 good movies...The Big Lebowski, Dark City and I'd even throw The Wedding Singer on the list for some obvious fun. But as it stands right now...you're right...not a good selection...not much to look forward to either...this summer is not shaping up to be as big as the past few - that's for sure...Godzilla will obviously do well as will The Avengers...the rest is bleak...

He's on the third rock from that sunlike object - Mr. John Lithgow.
Renny Harlin directed this movie that resurrected Sly's career for a little while...I enjoyed it for what it was - some good action and tension (especially at the beginning - hanging on that rope...whew)

You should definitely see Dark City then as I found it to be very intelligent and thought provoking...and well...just really cool! Great movie with some amazing images and a great storyline IMHO
