yes it may be true there may be use for them in
commercials or in movies, but none too catchy to keep
a lister glued for three min.

No they are NOT, im telling you this album may be a
whole shit load of rehash of his other shit but it has
a much too laid back feel to it, thats why i already
like the remixes better then the album they unlike the
album are ALIVE.

It was hosted by Dee Snyder and it had Moby on there
commenting on some bands. Wht struck me most i she
said that he just went out and got Motley Crews first
cd again and fell in Love with it again.

Never took him for a crew fan :)

As I listen to 18, I really enjoy all of the songs. It
is a solid album, but I think A lot of us are
dissapointed not because it is bad music, but because
it isn't better than play. In my opinion, most of his
other albums have had pretty drastic changes fromt the
one that preceeded, and got better, whereas this one
is very similar in feel to play.

Maybe moby after all these years of searching has
really found a style that he likes. I certainly would
not mind if he sticks with the gospel sample, techno
beats, and moving strings formula.

I think it is beautiful music, just not a big step up
from play. I'll certainly buy the album when it comes
out.

Subject: (mobility) d/ling "18" on a mac

Hi.  I've been on the list for a long time (three years, maybe four, I don't
know) and have sporadically sent messages from my old e-mail address.  I've
been having some problems downloading "18".  Maybe someone can help (I think
that there may have been a message about how to do what I'm asking a couple
of months ago... can't remember).  Anyway, I can download the songs to open
as a Quicktime file, but I can't get them to save on my comp.  Thus, with a
dial up modem, I have no way of "keeping" the files on my computer (a Mac, so
no right and left clikcing on the mouse, etc.).  I can't select "Save as
Quicktime Movie" because it won't let me select it.  Can someone please help
me?

quite interesting... i think theres a little room for
some of the other stuff... altho for a rock station,
especially fucking 104, yeah i see what you mean...

*sigh* 104 was my favorite radio station from 1994-97
or so, when i discovered college radio n stuff. after
that, rap-metal and stuff took over, and i just could
not bear it at all. now, it's the most horribly
ANTI-pc radio station in the world. kids listen to
this shit and think it's ok to call people 'gay' or
'retarded'. it's like a breeding ground for all these
snotty, nasty kids who grow up being misogynist and
crap. i hate it. i'm surprised play did as well as it
did on "modern" "rock" radio.



oh yeah, i've heard abour half of "18" now. i played
some of it on my show the other night. it's not as bad
as i thought it would be, "the great escape"
particularly is a nice new direction, sort of (but,
yeah, come one, couldnt you get hahn rowe or someone,
like to play LIVE strings??!?!? that synth-violin
sound just does not cut it!) but it just sound like
play 2. and the songs that he sings himself are just
crap.


but so far, it seems like a good album... just not a
great one.


maybe i dont buy enough new music, but the only truly
great album i've heard this year is the new Boards Of
Canada. truly a magnificent work of art. i've been
finding that BOC is doing a lot of things for me,
musically, that Moby hasn't in a few years.


but, these are all just my opinions.

Instead of right-clicking in your browser, you click-and-hold. Select
"save file as..." or "save target as..." or whatever.

BTW, iTunes <http://www.apple.com/itunes/> is a much better mp3
player than QuickTime.

It's easier to do FTP if you have an FTP program like NetFinder

I agree I don't see anything wrong with the new album (still only listened
through track 12 though).  I like it a lot In This World has grown on me a
lot recently.

Thank you so much.  I completely forgot that I already have NetFinder, now
I'm using it and am currently downloading "Fireworks".  "18" sounds a lot
like "Play" to me, the same feelings in a lot of places, as everyone has been
saying ("In My Heart", for example).  I like "The Great Escape"... it is
different from everything else that I have listened to on the album so far...
very soothing and contagious.  It does have that Moby quality of getting
stuck in my head so that I feel the spotaneous need to listen to it often.

Overall, it's pretty good though not what I had expected.  Moby kept saying
it was more romantic, etc. and I don't get that feeling really from the sound
of the album.  Maybe the rest of the songs will convince me that this is
worth the three years since "Play" was released.

many independent record stores in either los
angeles or denver, and then purchase from there
instead of giving my money to some corporation to
save myself a few dollars.  besides, it's usually

price of maybe $11.99 (+ sales tax) for Moby's play 18 (?),

veryify for the rest of us Moby nuts. :) (or you could just direct e-mail
one nut, me, with the info.)

The new music is great! Thanks for the MP3s all, AND I AM Running out to BUY
the new release. :) I am still shocked about the price, I cringed at the
price that I paid to pre-order PLAY.

I noticed it was $12.99 at amazon about a week ago but just recently it was
$13.99 (I just checked this morning again mainly to see how well it's
selling).  Now it's $12.99 again.  Crazy.  It's #9 in sales right now BTW!
Pretty darn good considering it's not out for a month.
