yeah. i know, thats happened before, like i got sick
of chemical brothers and prodigy and daft punk and all
that... but after not listening to them forever, i
still really liked them. same thing with moby. i mean,
i could still dig up all his stuff now and listen, and
love it, really. but i'm just not in the mood to. and
'm pretty much sick of Kid A too. it's quite possibly
one of my top 10, maybe 5, albums ever, but i just
listened to it to death. but if i tried listening to
it again, i'd love it, for sure. i just don't want to
dig it up again, you know? :)
meanwhile, i'm addicted to the Avalanches, and
"Loveless" by My Bloody Valentine, which i cant stop
listening to for the life of me, argh... that and the
new Dungeon Family album too...
anyway, off topic, uh... ;)
> You really think that? I bet you liked Play too,
> huh? :)
yeah i did.... i used to listen to it all the time...
but i stopped listening to it cause i got sick of it.
but i still think its a great album, really. better
than lots of stuff on the radio ;)
and i'm really glad that moby got as famous as he did,
really. i was hoping he would all along, cause i felt
lots of joy in moby's music before, i mean i used to
listen to EIW and i was like "why isn't music like
this more often? why don't more people listen to music
like this?" etc... and then, moby did become famous,
and i thought that was great, cause then other people
were into what had changed my life before....
blargh, i'm rambling, sorry... ;)

hehe. yeah.
i think its a pretty nice community tho... it's a good
way to escape reality. for me anyway.

Hehe, almost sounds like in Ghost Busters :) Here are some actual quotes
from the movie:
Egon: "This is hot Ray"
Ray: "Symmetrical spam stacking. Just like the Philedelphia mass turbulence
of 1947."
Peter: "You're right. No.. human being could stack spam like this."
or
Peter: "Come in Ray."
Ray: "Venkman, I saw it, I saw it, I saw it!"
Peter: "It's right here Ray. It's looking at me."
Ray: "He's an ugly little spammer isn't he?!"
Peter: "I think he can hear you Ray!"
or
Ray: "Venkman, what happened, are you okay?"
Peter: "He spammed me."
Ray: "That's great!"
or
Peter: "Well whatever it is it's got to get by us!"
Ray: "Right!"
Peter: "... Go get her Ray!"
Ray: ".....Gozer the Gozarian? Good evening. As a duly designated
representative of the city, county and state of New York, I order you to
cease any at all spamming activity and return forthwence to your place of
origin or to the nearest convenient parallel dimension!"
Peter: "That oughta do it, thanks very much Ray."
(sorry, I couldn't resist :)

Oh, dear god, I've been addicted to the Avalanches for
about 10 months now. Aren't they great?
I told all my friends about them, but they thought I
was insane until they were played right before a
Charlatans UK show. Then their ears perked up.
Pssshhh!
Anyway, for anyone in the SF area, they're gonna play
at Popscene on 330 Ritch this Friday at 10pm. I'm
out-of-my-mind excited. If interested I'll let you
guys know if they're as tops live as Fatboy says they
are (one of the guys keeps breaking his arm onstage,
hmmm).
Blah! I don't like spam!

Well I like the "Since I Left You" track but haven't heard much else.
Do I understand it correctly, the entire CD is one big collage of
different samples, loops, etc.?

Then you're bound to like the rest. Two really good
songs not on the album are "Undersea Community" and
"Run DNA".
And yes, they're like recycled music, taking LOTS of
old stuff & gluing it back together. Madonna let them
use the beat from "Holiday"; there's animal sounds,
old school, 50's instructional audio, real world
music, lounge, disco, rap in Japanese, kitch, even
Debbie Reynolds. I really felt crazy for liking it at
first.
All the tracks blend into each other. It was perfect
to listen to when I went on summer vacation. But it
makes me want to rollerskate.
Ghostbusters has some of the best lines ever,

if they've got the full line up live they are totally off this planet. one
of their DJs, Dexter, is quite possibly one of the best turntablists I've
ever seen (as an ex DMC employee I've seen a few). There is a mixed version
of the Avalanches album that Dexter did which is a million times better than
the original. It was only a promo so v. hard to get, but worth splashing out
on if you see it anywhere.
