hmmm, now that is a question. i'm glad moby isn't a
pokemon cause then i'd have to hate him to death ;P
he'd be a stupid little guy who jumped around and said
nothing but "Moby! Moby! Moby!" all day, while
millions of kids would try to "catch" him.
i do know that if he was a Digimon, his name would be
"Mobymon" and he'd be severely retarded. and whenever
my little sisters saw him they'd say "aaah!!!! the
m-word!!!!!"
i swear, my sisters (and all pokemon fans who are like
them) are so stupid, if i say "digimon" to them they
go "ewwww you said the d-word!" or something. get a
fucking life.....
dj pagan, how many indie rockers can you name who sing
about sticking it to the man? hmmmm..... maybe
pavement.... maybe spoon, who i don't really listen
to...... maybe robert pollard has said the phrase
"stick it to the man" sometime during one of his
songs, but it was just a drunken stream-of-conscious
ramble so it didn't really mean anything....... i know
sifl & olly have done a few "stick it to the man" type
songs, but they're not indie rock....
godspeed you black emperor! sure don't have any whiny
voiced stick it to the man songs........
whatever

Hi Clan,
I've made a version 2 of the mobility tag which is 60% of the size of the
other one. For those of you that have the last one, this is much more user
friendly. They will cost $2 or equivalent and I accept paypal.
I've already sent them out to those that I have promised better ones to
including Jake (rockmanrock) who left the list but wanted a tag when i first
made them. If you are interested please send me a note and I will give you
my address:)
I would make a scan to show you what it looks like but my computer's in a
bunch of pieces all over my bed.
Rock on,
Sharmila

here's a story for ya.
Moby to produce Groovejet Girl
Groovejet vocalist Sophie Ellis-Bextor has announced details of a
forthcoming solo LP to be released late this summer on Polydor. Moby and
Blur=B9s Alex James head the list of artists producing and writing material
with Ellis-Bextor. Moby who recently turned down the opportunity to work
with Madonna was said to have =8Cjumped=B9 at the chance to work with the
=8CGroovejet=B9 singer. Ironically sometime Madonna studio collaborators Damian
Le Gassick is scheduled to contribute programming and keyboards to
Ellis-Bextor=B9s solo project and Cardigans producer Tore Johansson is rumore=
d
to be producing. Sophie was formerly lead singer in group theaudience but
only achieved success when she provided a vocal for the reissue of Spiller=B9=
s
(formerly) instrumental dance cut =8CGroovejet=B9. To date =8CGroovejet=B9 has sold
over 500,000 copies in the UK and was recently voted 9th best number one
single of all time in Channel 4=B9s =8CHundred Greatest Number One Singles=B9
program. Spiller=B9s follow-up, =8CCrybaby=B9 has been recorded without an
Ellis-Bextor vocal and will be previewed at next week=B9s Miami Winter Music
Conference with an official release scheduled for late (as in post-Ibiza)
summer.

people nowadays have no patience with music and
mixing. everything is me, me, me. now, now,
now. i tell you. holy shit, where's my tylenol?
seriously, not bad on the mix job. i seemed to
have skimmed that you used sound forge for it to
mix over the hip-hop samples (which i thought
were very well placed contrary to popular belief
on the list). did you mix the rest of it, or did
you cheat with sound forge the whole way?

I'm the one that cheats with sound forge... I think Bart
cheats with Cool Edit. It think I'm going to start cheating
with Acid of Vegas soon instead.
I've mixed a track or two from cd's at the local discotheque
(and firmly astonished the resident dj's that I didn't wreck
the whole thing. I learned just by watching... but I don't
think I could handle vinyl... but it would be fun to give it
a try), but I'm still clearly a novice. I think I could get
pretty good at it if I got the equipment on which to practice.

I said on forehand I would cheat all the way :) I'm not a dj,
I'm just a guy with a bpm counter, a computer and a passion
for old school dance music.
And about the mix being short: A song duration of 1:30 min. is
very common for (greatest hits) megamixes of one artist like the
ones one often finds as b-sides on maxi CD singles etc.
thanks for the comment!

Has there been anymore consideration of the mega mix being done with out the

just wanted one without the rap as well. I think it would sound great.

I know Ryu relased one CD that has his Unloved Symphony cover from Thanks 1
on it. That's the only Thanks song I have. I don't think he has it anymore,
but the esteemed Mr. Paul Simpson, esq., might know.

Whats up Mobility. Must have been 2 years or something since I last posted....
Ah, the good old days back in 1997, 98, even 99. Amazing how things change so
quickly. While I am so happy for Moby, and I'm sure I'll get flamed for this
or something, I have a feeling that a lot of the old guys here can agree with
me (maybe even Paul, if he is still around, would agree with me - and I never
agreed with anything he said...) For me, I love Moby's music. But I never
realized until Play came out (a CD I didn't like so much) that one of things I
also liked was saying I love Moby, and having people say, who's Moby? It was
cool to like Moby back then, and then tell your friends and introduce him and
some would like him and some wouldn't, but anyway, it was cool. It's not cool
anymore, and it really got me. I guess that means I don't really appreciate it
or whatever, but I don't care. I think he is great and I love the man, I am
just afraid to say it in public anymore....
Anyway, the point is, as I will be going back to Japan in May and not taking
my CD collection with me, I have decided to sell my 100 plus Moby CD
collection. Included are sought after CDs such as Underwater and UHF, as well
as other older and sort of rare singles (the real go, hymn, I don't know... a
lot of them) and numerous promos (tons from Play, that 2CD one in the rubber
sleave (forgot the name, but off of AR), 3 copies of the 2CD Animal Rights,
and I don't know what else. Anyway, before I go offer it to the masses on
eBay, I was wondering if anyone is interested in buying them all or parts, or
just what you all think of how much they are worth (I guess only the really
hard to get ones). Just wanted to get your info.... Anyway, I love(d) you
guys, and as my progression from posting everyday and competing with Steve and
Bart for new CDs has turned into les posting, then digest status, and soon to
be removed from the list (probably, but I doubt I can do it....) I just wanted
to pop in one more time and say Whats up. Later.
