  152. Although I won't compare Moby to the Dalai Lama, I will say this is quite
  153. fitting and what I try to explain about Moby. 
  154.  
  155. When I met him (it was just my brother and I and Moby, no one else around
  156. so truly one on one) he has this way of making you feel like he is more
  157. honored to be talking to you than you are to him. Instantly puts you at
  158. ease and makes you forget you're talking to a musician you admire so much.
  159. And from watching numerous interviews and ESPECIALLY the Virgin MegaStore
  160. interview online so many others say the same thing about him. He's one of
  161. the most grounded musicians in the public eye I've ever seen. He tries to
  162. get across the "I'm just one of you, I used to bag groceries when I was
  163. young too" thing and does it well.

  342. Second, maybe its final exams or maybe is the lack of sleep, but when I've 
  343. not been studying for finals or writing papers this week I have been reading 
  344. a book "Ender's Shadow" by Orson Scott Card and listening to music (quite a 
  345. bit of moby)...my idea...if moby does any type of soundtrack, the whole film 
  346. and what not, or at least is the guy who picks the music for a movie, it 
  347. needs to be a sci-fi(ish) film...I think his music would go well with a 
  348. sci-fi type film....but as I said, maybe its final exams or maybe its the 
  349. lack of sleep that makes my mind think wierd thoughts.

  351. Third, if we can, could we get back to the discussions about moby's veganism 
  352. or politics...I don't like all this flaming mumbo jumbo and what not...
  353.  
  354. Fourth, a thread a while ago was who would I like to see moby on tour 
  355. with...well...among other groups...another group that recently put out an 
  356. album (best of 2000 in my opinion) the great Radiohead...it seems like many 
  357. of us enjoy radiohead as well as moby (obviously), so this would be logical 
  358. combo...it could be the "Anti-pop Tour" or something...even though both Moby 
  359. and Radiohead flirt with popdom, although their music speaks otherwise.

  644. I've been on the list for a few years, and I've been a fan of moby for 
  645. longer than that, but you know what?...it does not matter. Why? because 
  646. among fans of musicians, artists, authors etc...there is no seniority...its 
  647. not like we get bonuses for having liked somebody longer. I don't own every 
  648. moby release...does that make me less of a fan? No...he is still my favorite 
  649. musician. I would like to urge the list to not bitch at eachother, thats 
  650. counterproductive. We can discuss a whole bunch of stuff and still respect 
  651. eachother. Ahh...anyway...if you read my last message you can understand why 
  652. I am having crazy thoughts...but I thought it was important to say what I 
  653. had to say.

  655. To get back to a much more interesting aspect that has been discussed on 
  656. this list: Moby's politics...I thought I'd share a little quote from my 
  657. latest column in my college's newspaper: "[One thing] we learned [this year 
  658. is] that despite reports of his incredible popularity, the American people 
  659. did not see Ralph Nader as their alleged savior."
  660. Ok, so I am not a huge fan of Nader the presidential candidate (but a fan of 
  661. nader the activist)...sue me...Moby agrees with me...I like that (ok, so I 
  662. want to boost my ego by saying he agrees with me...heck I wanted Bill 
  663. Bradley to run, not Gore...)

  666. readers survey...fill it up with moby...thats what I did...well and
