Hello,

Less than a week after my second Moby show and days within joining this list,
I am so pleased with my impulse to join ......the majority the posts are
refreshingly interesting and worth reading ...thanks all.  I am sorry I
haven't yet introduced myself, and so ...I will begin by borrowing from
Howard...I am a young 39, my name is Eileen..(chronology matters less and
less with the passage of time).....I have been formally listening to Moby
since Play was released. I dont own anything else but have listened to
various mp3s, and have heard him, before even knowing who he was, at clubs.
An electronic music fan since its infancy in the early 80s...I have recently
continued exploration the genre and all of its wonderful niches....Play was
just such a departure from anything I had ever heard, and the beauty and
sensuality of the tracks toward the end of the album sealed my devotion to
the album and artist.

As a minor point of interest and/or a comment on the synergistic nature of
life...although I now live out on Long Island in NY, I once lived in
Manhattan, around the corner from where I heard Moby once mention he lives...

There are few, if any, people I would go see twice in one year, especially
touring the same album...and after just seeing Moby in March...I just saw the
NY show at the Hammerstein Ballroom a week ago....it was  incredibly
inspiring and satisfying....he is one of the few musicians who I have seen
who truly gives energy so generously to the crowd. The first show was a small
venue, which allowed him to interact intensely with the smaller crowd...and,
yet, the interaction managed to be just as dynamic with the operahouse sized
crowd at the Hammerstein. As an aside, but certainly key to quality of the
concert...the acoustics were amazing at this venue.

As for other music I listen to....my tastes are very diverse.....lately some
German synthpop, aggressive Techno, Ella Fitzgerald, Fiona Apple, Talking
Heads (replaced my lps missing in action with cds in the past year)...celtic
ambient ... portishead ...everything but the girl...Sheila Chandra....oh, and
I was blown away at Twilo by Jr. Vasquez spinning late in the early morning
after Moby....I have also found some excellent and fresh sounds wandering
through original music of electronic composers who share their work
online...the owner of Moby's soul is one I recently enjoyed.

I am sure this has exceeded the basic length of an introduction, but thanks
for indulging my passion for the music. I look forward to sharing in the
future.

It dawned on as I was flipping through my Play singles that
there are now as many Bside tracks to singles from Play as
there are songs on the album form which the singles came.
The number might increase with the release of the
"Southside" single in a couple of weeks, but I think I read
that the bsides for that will be "Flower" and "The Sun Never
Stops Setting". But I'm thinking we could wind up with more
bsides than album tracks eventually if more singles are
released, which I think they will be. (my money's on "Find
My Baby" thanks to that Tiger Woods commercial)

send me a vote personally at [e-mail] and in the subject heading of
the email write "tag" and then the number of the image that you're voting
for.  Like if I was voting for image 1 I'd put 'tag 1'
I thought it would be kind of cool to put the ascii photo on the 'b' side of
the tag to preserve authenticity. so if you want to vote for the ascii pic on
the back of the tag put a -8 after the number..... so if I'm voting for image
one and I want the ascii on the other side of the tag I would put 'tag 1-8'...

then I'll rack up the votes and tell you the results in a week....then make a
bunch and divi up the total...i'll give you my address to send the money and
I'll send the tag.
ok... i think that's pretty much it....:)

I downloaded "Running" from Napster after doing a search for the new Play
B-Sides. It is the same version as on the single. I don't know why someone
would say that it was different, because it was defintely not the "Running
Black Woman" demo.

yeah..it's on the I LIKE TO SCORE ALBUM....pretty good song..i still have my
doubts about buying the b-sides Play album, because although i am somewhat of
a collector, it just does not make sense for me to have two plays with the
same songs and the same b-sides...can anyone convince me to buy this B-sides

Umm. What was your search string? Chances are you just
pulled up an mp3 of the SINGLE bside, which has been out for
over a year, and not from the newly released bsides
compilation.

It's a great track. Originally released on the Senseless
MPS, it was notably moby's first song released for V2. It
was used in the film Any Given Sunday, and subsequently
issued on that MPS cd as well. It's not been released on any
moby single or album release.

Hey Group,

My name is Jason, I am new to the list. I have been a
Moby fan since "Go" and have enjoyed his different
changes in music. I would love to do whatever I can to
get Moby with Gwen Stefani's Southside video on TRL.
See I appreciate Mopby's music, and some of the bands
that I like, Built to Spill, Modest Mouse for example
don't get the chance for this exposure. Let's do what
we can to get some good music on TRL and go vote for
South Side. I would love to spearhead a push to get
this video on TRL. A lot of you might not even know
about TRL, which is on MTV and is dominated by the
Britney/NSYNC's of this world. E-mail me if you would
like to help at [e-mail] and I can tell
you more. I think this is a good idea to try, and
maybe we could do this, the video is pretty killer.
