i checked ticketmaster for moby tix they seem to be runing from
$26.50-$29.00 + a $4-$6 service charge. if your ordering online with a
credit card and want the tix mailed to you it brings them up to about $40.
looks like no more sub$20 moby shows. im seriously thinking of sitting this
one out. same show as the last jaunt through the states and more money. is
it just me or the incresing cost of moby goods getting annoying? one has to
wonder whos pocket my extra hard earned dollars is lining. [ and yes its

A week or so ago someone naively wrote that marijuana and ecstasy =
weren't harmful drugs and couldn't understand how they could be illegal =
when more harmful drugs were. From Sunday's Washington Post:
"Ecstacy wasn't even illegal until 1985. A continuing problem for law =
enforcement is that many users believe it's harmless, and there was =
little scientific evidence to prove them wrong util recently.
"Immediate side effects include increased heart rate and blood prssure, =
dehydration, overheating, teeth-grinding and jaw-clenching. Emergency =
room admissions associated with its use have more than doubled in the =
past two years, but only a relative handful of deaths ahve been =
atrributed. =20
"But with major new funding for government and private research into its =
effects, there's no "prettygood evidence that probably causes permanent =
damage to a portion" of the brain, said David McDowell, an assistant =
professor of clinical psychiatry and head of the Substance Treatment and =
Research Service at Columbia University.
"Ecstacy impairs the function and lon-term production of serotonin, a =
brain chemical that keeps people on an even emontional and cognativie =
keel and whose absence can lead to major psychological problems, =
McDowell said. OTher recent studies have indicated possible long-term =
memory loss and cognitive impairment.
The article also describes its trafficking, which I found interesting. =
Seems that over 80% of it comes from the Netherlands, where it is =
manufactured legally, but for no legitimate purpose. It then is =
trafficked by Isreali organized crime (hahaha!) to the United States =
were it goes undetected for the most part because customs officials =
usualy look for hispanic heroin and cocaine smugglers, not Hasidic Jews! =
The profit margin was also interesting, what is sold for 50 cents in =
Amsterdam goes for $50 at your typical rave.

I'm sorry if this mail goes all wrong or something cos it's actually the first time I attend to write a mail for the mobility... :)
Anyway, I wonder if anyone knows wich one is Moby's favourite color?
I really need to know...
Also, does anybody know if he's comming to Sweden or Scandinavia in the future?
I miss him A LOT since the absolutely wonderful concert at the Arvikafestival.
He sure knows how to rock the party! ;)
Cheers.

From: "Mark Reed" <thegenius@btinternet.com>
Subject: (mobility) V2000 Stafford, night two... Underworld + the rest
And so to the second night of Britain's safest festival... Babies in buggies
bouncing.. three pounds for a dodgy cheeseburger... an underwhelming crowd
attendence.. and a complete absence of festival weirdos. If anything it
seems the second day seems more enthusiastic, desperate for release, than
day one. And onto the bands.
Soulwax, somewhat bizarrely headline a Kerrang!-sponsored metal fest in
London on Tuesday. No idea why. They come in pinstripe 70's suits, dodgy
ties, and perform a set of enjoyable, if somewhat forgettable, retro pop
that is both hugely good fun and completely foregttable. Next up,
Morcheeba, who manage to present an almost offensively bland take on
soulfunkdancetriphop. I think.
First big draw of the day are All Saints, a band more famous for their
assets than their music. 50 minutes of wishy washy sychronised dance
routines, ass-shaking, and stadium pop I am asleep, alcohol sodden in the
car park. Bentley Rhythm Ace, featuring Kermit of Black Grape, and Fuzz and
Rich from the incredible PWEI, offer another set of enthusiastically cliched
jokebeats from the Skint Stable and move yo ass but not even manage to touch
yo brain.
Who's next? Ocean Colour Scene who peddle their increasingly generic,
irrelevant dadrock and Saint Etienne, who seem to be heading ever further
down the avenue of diminishing returns with their palid, almost bland, take
on retro semi-60's pop. Their set is enjoyable enough though, taking in a
sizable portion of old classics (certainly far more than their limp
Glastonbury set) in the shape of Like A Motorway, Nothing Can Stop Us, Only
Love Can Break Your Heart, Heart Failed In The Back Of A Taxi.
Bloodhound Gang are next,. Self-confessed priests of crap rock, they instead
make probably the most controversial appearance of all the ones at V2000. By
the end of the first song they have dragged someone on stage to drink their
way through a crate of Virgin Cola in order to win $100. Next up they make
an abusive heckler bare his buns to the crowd. A crowdsurfer is given a
minute of free heckling behind a microphone. They start a conga that dances
up and down the field. The bassist goes crowdsurfing. There's a mock-fight
between the crew and the band. The guitarist holds spitting competitions.
The bassist becomes a full blown Kiss-style fire-eater. Oh yeah, and then
they all dress up in Slipknot boiler suits and masks and attempt a
synchronised dance routine.
After this the efforts of Macy Gray seem pale. Then again she seems pale in
comparison to a white wall.
Underworld are the final band of the weekend. I know there's Travis, whose
dreary unimaginative stadium rock is all Virgin Cola for the masses, and
Supergrass, who seem to be aware of the strengths and weakness at the
mediocre plateau of their career and stick to it. But the new look slimmed
down Underworld seem even more potent than ever before. It's as if the
departure of Darren Emerson has honed the Vision into a singular, pure shaft
of light. Rick now is a hyperactive child at the controls as he produces
almost the entire Unerworld sign, an isolated brain in the control room, as
Karl, the heart and soul, dances hyperactively all across the stage,
commanding it in way he hasn't done before. The opener - a half hour slice
of Juanita-Kiteless-To Dream of Love-Push Upstairs-Push Downstairs-Leave
Home-Tin There-To Dream of Love - is pure heaven as Karl feels the beats
compulsively, emotes streams of random gibberish at us as if he's taken the
lid off your thoughts. Next up comes the Shudder/King Of Snake flavour,
which is simple and unrelenting.
Karl is a whirlwind diverish, dancing between the stage curtains, up and
down, off the stage, through the banks of keyboards and anywhere else he can
find with a massive smile on his face. Pearls Girl is next, and it sounds
enormous. Dark Train triggers some kind of global orgasm as the chords kick
in, and Karl straps his guitar on but doesn't even play it as the song
reaches take off, before the mood is calmed, slightly, by the sweet,
romantic, graceful and compelling Jumbo...
Born Slippy - Nuxx - Telematic. We all know this one and can guess roughly
what happens. Lots of people shouting "lager lager lager" and some loved up
cavemen begin to dance. Finally, after many confused looks they realise
they've still got 20 minutes left and a lot of songs left to play. Rick
gently teases us off with the opening chords of the godlike Rez that simply
build and build to the point where it seems you can't get any higher... and
then you go higher. The loop of everythingeverythingeverythingeverything
kicks off into Cowgirl and Underworld hit their peak and it seems that the
entire arena is floating off the ground...Rez snakes back in after a joyous
10 minutes of Cowgirl, and the song slowly starts to land. One of the best
gigs I've seen in years, and certainly the best Underworld gig I've ever
seen.
Underworld set: Juanita, Kiteless, To Deram Of Love, Push Upstairs, Push
Downstairs, Leave Home, Tin There, To Dream Of Love, Shudder, King Of Snake,
Pearls Girl, Dark and Long, Dark Train, Jumbo, Born Slippy, Nuxx, Telematic,
Rez, Cowgirl, Rez.
And that's it. 12 months from now, more moronic security guards, overpriced
warm Cola, visionless Dadrock headline acts, and quese to get out of the Car
Park. I'm looking forward to it.

So Ecstacy is dangerous because it gives you the same symptoms as =
drinking a cup of coffee, or going jogging! How horrible! Since when =
did jaw-clenching hurt anyone? A piece of candy or pacifiier is an easy =
cure. My favorite part is the 100% pure propaganda. I will now show =
you how the U.S. government makes anti-drug propaganda: "Emergency room =
admissions associated with its use have more than doubled in the past =
two years, but only a relative handful of deaths have been attributed." =
This very misleading statement actually means this: It is routine to be =
asked if you have used any drugs(including prescription drugs) or =
alcohol when entering a hospital emergency room. Therefore, everyone =
who says "I'm on XTC" or "I'm rolling" is considered to be a =
"Emergency room admission" related to the drug no matter why they are =
there. If you got hit by a truck crossing the street and you're on E, =
you will become a statistic like rest. This tactic of twisting words =
has long been used to keep us worried about substances that have been =
attributed to less deaths and serious medical conditions than the =
following: Eating meat, caffiene, alcohol, cigarettes, aspirin, =
prescription drug allergies/interactions, swimming, driving, riding a =
bicycle, flying in a plane, etc. Less than 10 people have died in =
America because of Ecstacy EVER and all but one or two died of =
dehydration which is so easy to avoid at a rave(or anywhere) that it's =
danger is negligible. No one in the history of man has EVER died =
because of marijuana!
=20

=20
Ok, now they are doing their favorite trick again: distoring truth =
for sensationalism. It IS true that seratonin is impaired, but no one =
yet knows in what way. To pretend that it is a negative thing when all =
scientific research points to this being a neutral condition is =
blasphemous. The whole reason so many people have had such amazing =
psychological breakthroughs on E is BECAUSE it effects seratonin. =
Otherwise no one would use it. This is equivalent to saying "Don't eat =
carrots, they have vitamin A which has been proven to affect the eyes" =
BIG DEAL! The one TRUE negative effect of ecstacy is the kinda crappy =
feeling you have after rolling. This is gone soon and isn't really bad =
at all. The other half of the last paragraph states the importance of =
long-term effects. SO SORRY! The drug hasn't even been used widely =
until a few years ago, which doesn't give anyone the ability to have =
tested long term. Fact is, there are no long-term users; and so no long =
term tests could have ever been performed. If I had one word to =
describe the above paragraph it would be SPECULATION. =20
=20
> The profit margin was also interesting, what is sold for 50 cents =
in >Amsterdam goes for $50 at your typical rave.
=20
Although the profit margin has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with the =
drugs' safety, I will rebut this patently false statement. I have never =
met anyone who has payed more than US $30 for a pill, and most get it =
for US $20-25. If you saw the profit margin on ANYTHING illegal you'd =
be astounded, apparently. =20
