That would be cool. I could really go for another
"Animal Rights" or "The End of Everything" right
about now.

No need for a mailing list about Moby. Now that we're all dating him, we can
just exchange all the dirty gossip about him. :)
Anyways, I was at J&R Music World and I got the UK version of Animal Rights,
with the "Little Idiot" bonus disc. The music is amazingly quiet, and a nice
contrast to the heavy punk of AR. I think they still have a few, so if
you're in NYC, get down there and grab it up.
Trying to lighten you people up,

perfectly straight forward question about moby's 'lovelife' (which i'm sure
isn't a bloody crime) & u all go mental about saying that there should be
separate mailing lists. i'm new to this & i simply forgot that it goes out
to absolutely everyone who's subscribed!!!! i apologise, ok!!!!! there's
no need to get up on yr high horses about it i too think that moby is a
genius like musician, i was only wondering!!!!! lighten up!!!!

Maybe we could use this list to talk endlessly about
wether it's a good list or not, or we could make it a
good list by actually talking about moby's music IE:
I just got the live a darmstadt cd and I am instatntly
endeared to moby's stage persona, which seems
remarkably like his interviews and what I had
expected. Unlike a lot of you, although I have tons of
moby music and I've been faithfully following his
music for 5 years, I have a lways been out of town or
unlucky in some unlucky way that denied me an actual
partaking of his live presentation. I especially love
his playfullness, and funny mixes. He has some kind of
samba or something version of feeling so real on there
with funny little podunk guitar rifts and everything.
That totally cracked me up. He also played a rift from
led zeplin joking about how they would have sued him
if he had used it in the next song, so he said he had
changed it around a little and then started playing
body rock. He plays all this wonderful music that is
so emotional and intense then in between songs he
joked around with the sound guy in a redneck
impression that only moby can do. The more I sample
his behavior and expression the more I appreciate the
man and his ecclectic (sp?) taste in music and
personality. He's awesome. Next time he's in town I'm
going to see him.
now all of you complainers out there make the list
good by doing what you expect to be done on the list.
Talk about the last cd you bought or something funny
from the last concert that we'll never know unless you
tell us. I especially would appreciate it. Thanks all,
peex out

Subject: (mobility) the new guy knows what he's saying
I just thought it would be interesting to note that in
the last mobility there where like 10 or 15 emails
that talked about how the list is dying and complained
that noone talks about moby's music anymore, and how
anoying it is that these newbies just come cause of
some single they heard on mtv. Well so far as I could
tell skimming through the battle, the only guy that
actually made a direct comment about moby's music was
a 16 year old guy that joined the list for the first
time. Everyone else is just arguing about the list.
Hypocrites. Just to guard myself, I love moby's music.
His ability to combine totally different styles into a
synergous (sp?) musical beauty is inspiring. and his
stage personana is hilarious. i just got those crazy
european illegal crap compilation cd's from europe.
It's kind of cool to have a big compilation of moby
from old stuff to the new, but it's kind of
dissapointing cause I already have all the songs. The
best find of late is the jazzy samba version of
feeling so real on the live in darmstadt bootleg cd.
Moby sings it all funny, it is totally hilarious, a
must. hope the list gets better, hope this helped. c

believe i've almost encited a near bloody riot over one question!!!!!
considering that the people who were moaning about people asking about the
master's (Moby, who else?) lovelife are actually writing (not very funnily
may i add) "who is actually dating moby" after their name. it must've
really pissed you off then!? i can't believe that there's so many uptight &
elitest people who like moby on here!!!! go on create seperate mailing
lists, but that's akin to racisM. descriminating against other moby fans.
IT WAS ONE HARMLESS LITTLE ENQUIRY, JEEZ!!!!! we are here for one person
only, & that is Moby. don't flatter yerselves.

Subject: (mobility) in regards to the new list (from the new list manager)
the new list wasn't created because of any specific recent post.
it's something i've actually had in mind for a while now.
there was demand for a new list. it's an alternative for ppl still on
mobility, for ppl who're giving up on it, for ppl who've given up
already, and for new ppl who're better about mailing list usage.
i, myself, plan to stay on mobility also.
once newbies have some sort of grasp of how to behave on a mailing list
they can feel free to ask to be on the new one too, or maybe everyone will
of gotten enough of a grip that mobility'll be just as calm.
it's not about ppl being new to moby, it's about ppl not having propper
consideration and etiquitte on stuff like this.
maybe i'm impatient about this stuff, but i'm sick of seeing ppl have
their selfish way online without thinking of others. it's seen especially
with aolers. (i'm not saying they're all like this, but it is a fair
generalization...) they treat the internet like it's some sort of game
because aol makes it appear as such, and so many aspects of the
internet have fallen towards shit because of it. and it's rediculous for
this kind of behavior to be overly accepted and coddled. there needs to be
an alternative here, and i'm presenting it.
and frankly, i've put too much blood, sweat, tears, time, and money into
trying to help ppl online for too long to feel like i ought to be
subjected to the kinda of self-centered indignant responses that have been
flying around. the work i've done has helped to server up lyrics, tab,
music info, etc. to over 150,000,000 hits in the past year alone. so
all you quick to flame me, stop and ask yourself what you've done for the
online community lately.
keep moving,

Pardon me while I relieve myself....
So I was walking down the street the other day, and somebody with a loud
system cranked up "Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad? I could still hear the
piano chime when that SUV was speck-sized from my perspective.
Most people I know still don't know who Moby is.
Many of them look exactly like him, though.
My sister has had my Play CD for 3 weeks, now. And she's not even dating
him.
Somebody told me that All That I Need Is To Be Loved (Speed Trance Mix) is
on the soundtrack to a new Martin Lawrence movie, alongside rap and hip-hip.
Is that true? That mix is like liquid electricity, and I can't imagine it
alongside (insert booty track here) I applaud non-sequiters, though.
I read somewhere that Moby might release a b-sides companion album to Play.
I hope not, most of them were underdeveloped experiments that had sometimes
nice moods but were really just dead ends. Would you listen to Down Slow for
an hour?
I've been here for two years or so. Content has diminished. So what's it
gonna be, "All good things must end" or "Good things come to those who
wait?" Truth be told, I could care less, but I do read posts from names I
know when the crap floodgates are opened.
I just got a really cool stopwatch for free today. I'm going camping this
weekend and I plan to use it for a liquor chugging contest. I hope I don't
spill on it and ruin it.
Have fun beating each other with phonebooks,
Steve

I can't see what all this fuzz is about... The whole dating Moby thread is
very
amusing (did you know I had some great romantic nights with Moby when he
was in the Netherlands last month? :) ha ha! And Mark, I really appreciate
what
you are doing for the online Moby community, but please lighten up a bit.
Mark about the new Moby list:
>it's invitation only, so if you want to join it, you can contact me
>individually with why you think you ought to be on this list.
I wonder what one has to write to get in...
Oh, thanks to Jane Quirke for reanimating the list, because it's always so
awfully
quiet here during the summer. Those people weren't rediculing you, they
were
just having some fun, you are always welcome to ask any question you want.
Here's a list of the people from whom the most merchandise was sold during
the Pinkpop festival in the Netherlands last month:
1. Moby
2. Korn
3. Live
4. Pearl Jam
5. Kane
6. Counting Crows
7. Guano Apes
8. Bush
9. Krezip
10. Die Toten Hosen
Yeah that's right, moby sold the most t-shirts!
I managed to get the Feeling so Real 10" record on the Soapbar label, so
I'm glad to find out that this record is more than just a rumour! I also got
a
radio promo 7" of Go (7FOOT15) on the Outher Rhythm label, both are
not in the Moby discography yet! I'll include them soon.

Yeah, I wouldn't mind some new Trophy dance stuff...
Also, I'm getting cable internet in a couple of months, and I have this 4.3
Gb
harddisc lying around here, nice ingredients for a new FTP server, no?
And another thing: being on AOL doesn't say anything about a person!

I read somewhere Moby referring to himself as a composer. I don't think a Play
B-sides would be as good as a fully developed piece, with movements and real
instruments. I feel like a lot of the B-sides are just cut short and aren't
alive for long enough to have any real character. That's why, even though Moby
says he won't do one, I'd love to see him score a film. I think what those
B-sides need is room to breathe. If he were up to it (and I know it doesn't
matter, but I think he is), I think he could be write an extremely successful
comprehensive classical composition. (oo, alliteration!)
