Hi everybody!
Got the 2 UK Porcelain singles yesterday, but I find it hard to give any
comments.
What can I say, just another single from Play with nice, but far from
spectacular
b-sides and some good remixes which I already reviewed a few weeks ago...
But one thing really struck me!!!
Usually a Moby single says: For more information (bla bla bla) to
www.moby.org
but now it says: For more information (bla bla bla) to www.moby-online.com
A site that claims to be the "official Moby site", the site has a simple,
clear layout
and includes all major Moby info and even a discography with a totally new
setup
and all the info is copied from the discography from Dan and me. (without
letting
me know about it!!) The Moby discography is free for non-commercial use, but
I think it's at least polite to inform its mintainer you're going to use it.
Also, the
discography at www.moby-online.com contains some errors, for the one and
only
complete discography go to www.moby.org or www.geocities.com/animal_sight/

Apparently the same thing happened to the two people who run a fan
site for BT at www.bt-network.org. The official site at
www.btmusic.com ripped off the whole discography, but got a fair
amount of it wrong. How sucky!

The 2 Porcelains I got yesterday are no promo's.
I'm from Europe, Mute always releases their singles before V2 and here
in Holland, if Mute puts out a single on a Monday, my local record store
usually has it the Friday before. (just a question from which distributor
your local record store gets their CDs)

Check it out:

01 Porcelain - Single Version 3:28
02 Flying Over The Date Line 3:59
03 Summer 4:01
UK CD, Mute, CDStumm172 [12 June 2000]

I am sorry if this has been posted already.
I still have not figured out where I will be able to obtain this release
(other than E-Bay). I have e-mailed mutebank and wasn't there a V2
representative on this mailing list?
Please tell us where we can get this single since it is supposed to be
released tomorrow (????????????)
Thanks,

Hey, don't post this filth on the Mobility list!!!!! (just kidding here :)
Let me tell you what's wrong with it:
1) The Mute single catalog number is CDMute252 and not CDSTumm172
which is the cat# of Play if I remember correctly.
2) The track times are incorrect. Flying Over The Date Line is 4:45 and
Summer is 5:55 mins. long.
3) Why does it list the same CD 2 times? Like Mute is going to release
two the same CDs...
4) They probably got the cat# right for the V2 single, but since when is
V2 releasing *2* singles. (both the same as the ones on Mute)
5) I have my doubts whether the rel. date of the V2 single is on June the
12th.
V2 always is a bit later with their Moby singles.
This is the correct info on the UK singles (soon available through Mutebank)
I don't have anything about the US single though, so any info is
appreciated!
=========================
PORCELAIN [12 June 2000]

2 4:45 Flying Over The Dateline
3 5:55 Summer
PORCELAIN REMIX [12 June 2000]
UK CD, Mute, LCDMute252
1 6:36 Porcelain (Clubbed To Death Variation By Rob Dougan)
2 8:21 Porcelain (Futureshock Instrumental)
3 4:50 Porcelain (Torsten Stenzel's Edited Remix)

Yes, that's right. I guess it should be up on Mutebank later next week,
just be patient, Mute is a bit slow with their website, but they're very
reliable so don't worry :)
So people, check out the discography of www.moby-online.com only
to have a laugh, for some serious and correct discography information
go to www.geocities.com/animal_sight/ or www.moby.org
I did some research and guess what, moby-online really is official
and is maintained by DEF! (Moby's European management)

Why though? I thought Moby.org was quasi-official? At least it sure looks
more official than Moby-Online.. Why bother putting up an unfinished
website. Their link to mute.com was even wrong.
Long live Dan Cerman and his cool moby.org! :)

Hi guys -
First I would like to thank those of you who helped me out with finding
rarer albums and information about Moby's tour. It was kind of you to take
pity on an unexperienced Moby fan such as myself.
Could anyone tell me what the translation is from (english) pounds to
(american) dollars? I'm trying to figure out how much it would cost me to buy
all of Moby's items offered on MuteBank.

You could maybe check actionrecords.co.uk if you don't want to wait as they=20
have both cds for =A32.99 each

Seriously, this is bad for Moby. Before, when people wanted infos about Moby=
=20
after buying an album, they were checking moby.org, where you can find nearl=
y=20
everything. Whereas now, they'll fall on this crap website (mine is even=20
better !!!!!:) ) that is incomplete and incorrect and not nice looking and=20
very short and that instead of linking mute with www.mute.com, they link it=20
with www.moby.com a nice site for mobile phone users. Couldn' t they wait a=20
bit before putting it on the cds because it really sucks when you go to the=
=20
news page and see
new single
new tour
or something like that
Once again the non official will be better than the official because it is=20
done by fans and not mercantilists (hope this word exists in english).
cheers,
