His record company has licensed the tracks to be used for commercial
purposes. Not quite the same thing.

I don't see how his ethnic background has anything to do with it...
He cleared their use even though they're public domain. I think he's
done a wonderful thing to bring forgotten vocalists into some new
recognition.

I have no problem with anybody selling their songs on to boost further profit on their work, especially when the music is quality , made with some sort of integrity. I do have a problem with people who record standardized, mediocre rubbish under the term of 'music' & then spread their shit as far as is possible. C'mon, surely you'd rather here an ad using a portion of 'Porcelin' than a complete Brittainy track.
