sorry... but i have to throw my two cents in
Has anyone heard the self titled cd by The Beta Band?
Its a strange mix of beck type sound collage work with old beatles style songs
I love it!
Of course... play is number one in my book too

Since my name was brought up and
I happened to be paying attention
I thought I would pop in and say
HI
to everyone, many of you I talk
to regularly and many of you are
new in the last year or so and don't
know much of me.
For many reasons I did not get a
recording of the SF and Phoenix
shows from this tour as I had hoped
to BUT i DO plan on recording
at the Coachella Festival in October.
That is going to be the biggest, best
festival I've ever been to- so many
incredible artists all in one place.
If anyone else is planning on going
please email me off list and maybe
we can hang out at the gig.
I have a few live shows for trading
with other fans, but I need to upgrade
my soundcard so I can get them off
DAT to CDR or mp3 without having
to have someone else do it.
anyway-
I really have enjoyed wearing my moby
hat which i wear almost everyday since
i bought it at the Phoenix show.
Also- ARP is my latest favorite song
and if you think part of it sounds farmiliar
then that's because some of it came from
a demo song I've heard called
"Every One Of My Problems"
talk to you all again soon i hope...
i've been so busy lately- sorry

Can't argue there. NOTHING I have heard so far this year will top "Play".
It is as convincingly this year's best release to me as Faithless' "Sunday
8PM" was last year.
New CD's before the end of the year from Pet Shop Boys and Prince but even
those won't top Moby no way in hell from what I've heard. The only other CD
I'd list so far this year at #2 is "No Angel" by Dido. But "Play" looks
untoppable.

I'm a little nervous about bringing this subject back up, but someone on the
list the other day made some comment about Moby writing Honey and Bodyrock
to "pay the bills". And of course that got me thinking about the whole
selling out conversation. Question for those of you who went to see him on
this tour. He played Bodyrock at what, all of the shows? Now my experience
may have been different than everyone elses, and if so, please let me
know...but at the Austin show, it was damn obvious from the first note of
Bodyrock, that he really freaking loved the song, and was having a damn fun
time playing it. That, for me, completely resolves that issue. Soda
anyone?

well, if moby did do those 2 tracks to pay the bills, more power too him i
guess. they ARE kick ass songs, i mean, who cant get pumped by bodyrock,
aside from a corpse? i guess if moby did write them to get noticed, he did a
good job of it. he obviously loves what he does (duh) can really get into
it, and knows what sounds good and what doesnt. hell, when i saw moby, he
was about creamin his shorts on every song, runnin around, beating the
little drum thing hes got, wailin on his guitar and screaming something i
cant remember. anyway, thats my 2 bits.

hey it's beejo back down in muggy hurricane-watch Tampa.
i got back on the list after a few weeks away.
as per the instrux, i'm going to give some info, though it's against my better
judgment.
i'm 30 (he says, wincing).
moby collex is everything is wrong, play and a couple of disjointed singles
lying around here somewhere. sad perhaps, compared to many of you who i'll
have to catch up w/soon.
long-time faves include bowie, depeche mode, prince, beatles and love &
rockets.
faves this decade are tricky, bjork, orbital, the roots, tori, underworld.
i'm a copy editor (read: dull) down at the tampa tribune. it's actually pretty
ok. i also get to review as much hip hop as i can stand, but i can't stand
much, so i'm not very prolific. i did get to do a Play review some weeks ago
(where my interest started) and i get to see him in st. petersburg, that
famous home of, um, very little, on thursday.
that's all for now.
oh, i'm from dallas and also lived in pittsburgh last year.
thanks for playing,

I wrote that thing about Moby making those songs to pay the bills but I
didn't mean it like that. What I meant was the fact that Moby plays those
songs to relax and kick back, have a little fun from the mostly negative
point of view of the world. Most of his songs are extremely beautiful
because of their deep sensitivity, but when Bodyrock comes on it's like
Hold It there is a Beautiful Feeling Still left In this Fucking Hole we
call Earth. Those songs are there not because he wants them there to pay
the bills but because they still mean alot to him. You would be pretty
much a loser if you thought everything held a sad vibe, surely? That is
why all the chart toppers are all hippy eccentric lovey dovey songs.
People like getting highs while they plod away at work. I like a good
happy tune everyonce in a while and Moby provides it. That is why he is a
legend. But we all have to admit that there is no one here that fell in
love with him solely for songs like Bodyrock? If so no offence but Have
you No Heart?
I guess it's my problem.
If we are going to nominate good albums, Don't get your Knickers in a twist
if I say Creed's New Album Human Clay is going to Crank, but hold your
breath for Smashing Pumpkins' new one with Jimmy back from the dead. Plus
Tool must be Due are'nt they.
Adios
Joe
