Gee, sounds like the Warped Tour this year...but I won't start on that

Xaq, I'm from Minneapolis also. Did you all ready get tickets for the Aug.
23 show? If so, how? I was at 1st Ave. tonight (Tuesday) and they were not
selling them yet even though the concert is now listed on their web site.
I'm dying to get my hands on those tix. I want to make sure that I don't
miss this show being I missed the last one a year or two ago with Juno Reactor.

Radio show? When? What station? What kind of music besides Moby do you play?
I have a general question to anyone who can answer. I am currently
subscribed to the digest version of this list and I just feel out of the
loop so to speak right now as far as discussions. My question is 1)How many
posts are people with the regular version usually getting per day? 2)Is
there any lag if I were to switch for digest to regular versions? Will I
miss any posts?
Finally I'd just like to say that I'm completely psyched about Aug. 23rd
here in Minneapolis. It's going to be a slow, grueling month waiting for it
to come around. I've never seen Moby in concert. He's going to be playing
in a pretty decent club. They usually play atleast one of his songs every
dance night (partly because I request them). In fact, I actually heard the
club mix of Next Is The E a couple of weeks ago. I heard a strange version
of Bodyrock tonight. Had a really strong guitar riff to it.

I'm not too keen on the Olav remix (too much of the same
old thing and not hard enough for me), but the Rae and
Christian and the other one (can't remember) I do like on
the U.K. release anyways. There's almost a bit of acid jazz
in there. Now if Moby was to experiment with some acid jazz
stuff next, that would be interesting!
Absolutely love Arp b-side on the 'original' u.k. single.
Wasn't sure at first, but after several listens it's really
grown. Sunspot is good too, but I need a few more listens.
I'm not sure I like the actual Bodyrock single as much as
the version on the album. It's not much different I
suppose, but maybe I'm more used to the album version? I
know I definitely prefer 'Every time you touch me' on EIW
than the single release.

Xaq,
I disagree w/ your opinion of both the remixes and the album. Hohner's
Bodyrob remix comes pretty close to the feel of the original, I think. It
adds a harsh edge to it. The others, like you said, are distanced from the
original. However, a friend of mine indicated to me that the Dani Konig mix
was his favorite, w/ the Basoski mix close behind. I really liked the mellow
Rae & Christian mix, myself. I appreciate it when a remixer can do something
interesting w/ the song instead of writing a new song and sample-dropping,
but that too can be fun. This is a matter of taste, not quality, which is
entirely subjective.
Play is an album, and the b-sides are stand alone songs. Because it's an
album, it need to have balance for the songs to work well w/ each other and
create a cohesive whole. If Moby just created an album full of Sundays,
Machetes, and Run Ons, you'd get an overload like w/ EIW and it would be too
crazy and manic to stand as an album. (as opposed to a song collection) I
appreciate the mood & energy swings on Play and I'm glad Moby made it. It's
a musical side of him that he never had developed before. I like the mellow
songs, but I do think that the last third of the album needed an energy
boost somewhere, though. I do like his faster harder stuff, and hopefully
when Moby does Play Remixed it will have more of the faster, more energetic
stuff that Moby has in his studio. I suppose for you it's a matter of Moby
not catering to your musical preferences, which would eliminate much of the
quiter, more introspective portions of the album, if not completely change
it. Yay? Nay?
So did you all get your Bodyrock singles yesterday? I had to call a couple
places before I found one. I had it held. That was $5.36 well spent.

greetings,
I checked last night and found out you can get BodyRock Pt.1 & BodyRock Pt.2
real
cheap (1.99 pounds each).
goto : www.action-records.com
if shipping to USA (from Europe) it costs a total of 7.00 pounds for both
CDs and shipping. Basically about $10.00 US dollars to get both the singles
(whooo-hoo!). I have ordered from them before and have no reason to complain
about them.

like i said, i work at KUMD 103.3fm in duluth, mn. i've been there for
about 5 years. (life time college student!) my show is tuesday night at
9pm till 11pm. i play all kinds of techno, from moby to bt to aphex twin
to roni size and krust to very local stuff and hardcore. anything i think
is good! i may be overstepping my bounds, but i honestly believe we have
the best techno programming in the US. here it is:
monday: the ministry of sound radio show - direct from the club in the UK
with special guest djs.
after that we have industrial and more techno
tuesday: the shack of xaq, my show
the elektrik messiah, more techno and harder edged stuff
thursday: dj neko, awesome house and big beat from the UK
we all put a lot of time into getting the latest stuff from the UK and
the US. i'm proud that we've been playing a lot of the music that's on
the ministry of sound show!
you can check us out on the web at: www.kumd.org
the audio might cut out from time to time i'm told. you might want to
make sure you have a fast modem. however, i've ALSO been told that we
have very good sound. one of our translator stations actually broadcasts
the web cast when they have problems with the main signal!
so check it out and give me a call at 1-800-566-KUMD on tuesday night! i
also host the ministry of sound show on monday.

Nah, I'm probably the only one on here who prefers the
album version. Beatmasters 7" is the only mix of ETYTM I've
heard and I don't like it as much at all. It's the one
with the b-side: 'blue light of the underwater sun', isn't
it? If I could only describe the sound on the album version
that does it for me, I would.

I am so thrilled with this news!!!
I'm amazed at the (IMO) great selection of remixers!
Sharp is cool.
I'm almost ashamed to admit that I'd like to see rollo/faithless
replaced with paul van dyk. but i love rollo/sister bliss/faithless so
this isn't a complaint. i wonder what kind of relationship, if any,
moby has with those in faithless... i mean... this is the third single
that they've mixed right (i'm tired so this could be wrong and i'm
haven't checked my facts)?
Currently, most of my excitement as for remixers goes to ATB and Ferry
Corsten. Maybe it's because they are new to me. ATB has a great single
called "9pm" (huge in the UK and crazy enough, available as a domestic
single in the US). Ferry Corsten just did a single with DJ Tiesto under
the guise of Gouryella and released a new self title single called (well
duh) "Gouryella". It's a knockout, especially if you're into trance
with a lot of energy! Some have called it Dutch/Holland trance if that
helps, hehe.

Friends -
I tried this once before, but it didn't post (probably because I didn't type
in Plain Text.)
My name is Jeff Cubeta, and I subscribed to your list several days ago. I
am currently living with my best friend (Todd) in Pittsburgh, but I am
moving back to London in September (as long as my work permit comes
through.) I adore Moby - his activism and his music. I wish I could
someday be as creative as he is. Some of my other "favorite artists"
include Bjork, Beck, Blur, The Pet Shop Boys, The Chemical Brothers,
Orbital, The Orb, PJ Harvey, Air, Pavement, Armand van Helden, The Cure,
Tricky, The Smiths, and yes, Donna Summer (she's the queen of cheez, not
disco.) I'm also into a lot of black music - older (how do you say,
back-in-the-day?) R&B and soul.
I first read about Moby in Rolling Stone exactly four years ago - it was a
review of Everything Is Wrong. (If I'm remembering correctly, this album
was called Album of the Year that year!!) Moby and I have been inseperable
ever since!! (Don't I wish!!)
I look forward to being on the list.
Cheers -
Jeff
