"My Weakness" is the best track on a very strong album. In fact it is right
up there with the top ten of all Moby tracks. I also dig "southside", and my
take on the song is a fictional gang-banger'ish type person roaming around
town. But that is just my take on it. I also thing "machete" and "the sky
is broken" are wonderful tracks.
I think Moby's spoken word stuff fits very well into the album and lyrically
I think they are wonderful little poems in there own right. Especially on
"the sky is broken" the feel of the music with the mood of the spoken word
stuff fits so well. Anyone who lives in a city like NYC can understand the
feeling of the words in that song. Haunting and grand!

Subject: (mobility) and now a word about starlings,
you guys & gals know starlings?
well, you have sparrows and starlings, the two most common birds in the
Netherlands.
Now, god gifted these animals with a very special talent:
Namely they are able to imitate not only all other birds, but in fact every
f*cking sound you can make.
So, i discovered this when i had this wireless phone, no mobile, but a thing
you could use around the house, and if it's battery went low, this thing had
an terrible alarming sound,
it would go 'Deng-Deng-Deng' (wait 5 seconds) Deng Deng Deng!'
elektronic way of denging...
so now you can already guess what's coming,
in the summer (whatever that may be) when i slept with my windows open, and
that phone would be left on the table, in stead of its loading device, so
mostly in the morning it would ALARM me: deng deng deng,
and i had to put it on the loader, because otherwise i could not phone all day..
and that's how i learned to get up early in the morning...
but then this SMART-ass starling came in my garden en he started to
reproduce that sound...
so GOOD, that i had to get up at six and found the telephone normally on the
loader... not on the table...
(a few times) ..it was the starling reproducing that sound!
So now i hate starlings, because you have these people who have
burglar-alarms on the side of their houses, so if you kick against the wall,
they'll go off for no reason at all, and now I have three!!! of these
starlings, reproducing Burglar-alarms.... and they REFUSE to learn "Gimme
Summer!"
no matter how many times i Play that!
..and i looked in a dictionary, and it said:
..."they are usually a pest" *ha!*

Last night I was playing WHFS (99.1) in my car, and they announced that
they would be playing new music from Moby. I kind of knew they would play
Bodyrock, but they played a slightly different version. It wasn't really a
remix, it was almost exactly the same, and they said it was from the album
play, and didn't mention it was a different version. I'm wondering if the
version I heard will be the version that will be on the single?

They proably played one of two edits of Bodyrock that are on the promo
single. It's a 3 track with the album version and 2 edits, and I've read
that the art on the CD itself has a skull over a black background. I'm
really hoping for a US single for Bodyrock and not just 2 UK ones.

Subject: (mobility) run on/southside lyrics
someone else finally sent me lyrics to run on, there a
little different, and still not the EXACTLY the ssame
as the moby lyrics...but closer. every version i've
found is missing the "duckin' and dodgin'" line. at
least i think that's what it says. and also, if
anybody can tell what all the words to southside are,
i'd like to hear them too. thanks.
Run On
Chorus:
Well you may run on for a long time (run on for a long
time)
Run on for a long time
Let me tell you God AlmightyÆs gonna cut you down
Go tell that long tongued liar (oh well, well)
Go tell that midnight rider (oh well, well)
Tell the gambling, rambling backbiter
Tell them God AlmightyÆs gonna cut æem down
Stop God Almighty let me tell you the news
My headÆs been wet with the midnight dews
I've been down on my bended knees
Talking to the Man from Galilee
My God spoke and He spoke so sweet
I thought I heard the shuffle of angelÆs feet
He put one hand upon my head
Great God Almighty let me tell you what He said
Chorus
You may throw your rock and hide your hand
Working in the dark against your fellow man
As sure as God made the day and night
What you do in the dark will be brought to the light
You may run and hide, slip and slide
Trying to take the mote from your neighbourÆs eye
As sure as God made the rich and poor
YouÆre gonna reap just what you sow
Chorus
Some people go to church just to sit in the fire
Trying to make a date with a neighbourÆs wife
Brother let me tell you sure as you were born
You'd better leave that woman alone
Because one of these days you mark my word
You'll think that brother is gone to work
You will sneak up and knock on her door
ThatÆs all brother you will knock no more
Chorus

Subject: (mobility) Moby on AMP next Sunday
I just checked out the AMP website and the video for "Go" is 4th in the play
list. I've never seen the video for "Go" so I am going to be glued to the
set. There will also be the premiere of an Underworld video for "Jumbo".
Looks like it's going to be a good show. I'm planning on taping it and
possibly converting some of the videos to avis. If I do I was thinking that
I might make it available in parts for download on the web. Anyone
interested? It'll probably be a pretty large download over a week or two.
I'd rather sacrifice download time for better quality. Especially since
it's Moby and Underworld.
In case anyone is interested here is the total play list for Sunday night:
1. Laurent Garnier- Flashback(Says it's a debut but i saw this a long time
ago. Very funny video.)
2. Underworld- Jumbo(debut)
3. Air- All I Need
4. Moby- Go
5. DJ Spooky- Peace in Zaire(debut)
6. Q-Bert- Sneak Attack
7. Ming and FS- Manhatten Bound
8. Squarepusher- Come On My Selector
9. Praga Khan- Injected with a Poison
10. MC Tunes vs. 808 State- The Only Rhyme That Bites
Later.
