does anyone one else really dislike moby's "poetry?" by this i mean the
stuff he speaks instead of singing. this includes most of the stuff at
the end of "play." it reminds me too much of the damn pretentious (ok,
the HAS to be spelled wrong) open mic-poetry slam-black turtle neck
werin'-crap you can find in any local barnes and noble. i love it when he
sings ("south side") and screams (animal rights and others) but this "the
rain is wet on my pale bald head in the city with no girlfriend" stuff
just has to go...unless he's screaming....
just an opinion.

oh yes, in the new SPIN which gives PLAY a 9 out of
10, they mention Moby a few more times too.
There will be a Moby interview posted to
<http://www.spin.com> on June 11 I believe.
There is an ad for PLAY in the magazine.
In the Cibo Matto interview, it says they namechack
Moby on their new song "Sci-Fi Wasabi." phat, CB are
Moby fans! they rock!
Theres this huge article abbout Axl Rose for some
reason and hes on the cover. dont ask. of course, Moby
was asked to produce a record for GNR, so hes quoted a
few times. He says that Axl is unrecognizable now, if
u saw him in a crowd you wouldnt recognize him. and
also, he loves the DJ Shadow cd.
and on June 15 there will be more on Axl posted to
SPInonline, so maybe more Moby?
and also, on June 5 (this saturday) Radio 104's
electrocircus will be 8 hours long (10pm to 6am) and
will feature a guest spot from PAUL OAKENFOLD. listen
on <http://www.radio104.com> thank you.
bye!

Has anyone seen the video for 'Run On?' Its pretty neat.
I saw it at the rollingstone.com video section. I created the technology
behind the pages, but havent bothered to look for any new videos on the site
for a while as Ive been involved in other projects. So lo and behold, I see
it there! Its also in the 'Big Video' section in that 300K Windows Media
format. A pretty cool view of Heaven and Earth as office space.
I liked it.

My brother decided to spend money he doesn't have today ^_^; so we
went -shopping!!- and What did I learn? Well...
We hit the local record stores, the lame one, the cool one, and
the midway one...and I'm proud to say two of them had -any- moby. Bow
Wow, the "hip" store had feeling so real remix disc, $5 *I begged and am
now intensely in love *_** and a light up Moby Play sign...which they
might sell ... as if I could hope... ^_^ Anyways. The other, midway
cool store, which has some real odd rare stuff, had Play *quietly, no
advertising* and others...a whole section of Moby actually. Not even in
the misc M's or nothing...^_^ So that's nice to know. Of course our big
stores might have him...but I don't like paying them if I don't have to.
Anyways. Wow I need speakers for this !!! I'm killing my ears and I
DON'T CARE!!! ^_^ Okay ^_^ Anyways. Bai all.

actually, that stuff reminded me of PortisHead which I happen to
enjoy.
Moby said that he did all that stuff in one take and was just going
with the flow (I guess). ALSO, you can hear him turn the pages while
he's performing in the studio. SO, I guess he felt like he was on a
roll and wanted to be creative and go with a feeling.
Don't worry! Moby said he originally had TONS of songs he left off
the album and hopefully he'll put a CD of those together and you can
find some that you enjoy more. I guess we can't like everything.
I don't like that track after "Come On Baby" on the US Version of AR.
Gives me the creeps. Go figure

Alright I can't contain myself my first official listen to a moby
cd of any kind and it's kicking my ass so hard!!!! Usually I don't even
understand remixes...but I just can't get enough right now. This's my
second time through and I have only two pressing things to say:
1) ack! loving it loving it and then the end of the old skool mix
kills me!!! He does that kind of echoey last sample...makes me shudder.
2) Have I heard this before?! Info about New Dawn Fades I swear
I've heard a version by some goth band...am I lying? It's so good!!!
Thanks! for patience, for info. pickle

Hello all!
Moby was one of a kind! He was so great in his performance and meeting with
his fans! I was definitely glad to have been a part of it. It makes up for
not going to see him in Hartford. After it was over I was walking around the
store and they kept announcing Moby's new album and that he is signing
autographs.
So I overheard these 2 guys talking:
1st guy: Who is Moby?
2nd guy: I don't know never heard of him (what a shame!)
1st guy: He must be coming out now
2nd guy: yeah he must be new and coming out with his 1st album
1st guy: he probably sucks like the rest of he new people coming out
now
2nd guy: yeah they only after 2 things fame and money
Marisa: if you never heard of him or his music how can you already
judge the man?
1st guy: isn't that what all musicians are after?
Marisa: so if that's what all musicians are after why are you in this
store supporting the greedy
so-called musicians?
1st guy: silence (DUH)
2nd guy: sorry
Marisa: no I'm sorry for you both! lataz!
Boy when I heard this I had to interfere on the conversation I mean come on
if you don't know who he is don't just assume shit and have your mind made up
about a guy you've never heard of. Listen to his music and then give an
opinion. They didn't even know it was his music playing at the store.
Geesh! can't stand ignorant people. Let's be open minded shall we?!!!
People may think that I should have minded my own business but I stand by
what I said. It just isn't right to judge anyone or to assume anything. I'm
glad I spoke my mind!
Hey Elie I was there! where were you?

speaking of fatboyslim, norman cook, i don't see why people don't like his
music. i read someone's post that ripped his style of music apart. i have the
new cd at home, as long as the older one, and i also have a cd from when he
called himself De La Roc, and gotta say that it's really good party music,
nothing more nothing less. he and moby are two completely different
personalties, and it shows in their work, moby is more spiritual and into
mood, while cook is more making music that is fun to dance to, and for those
who say you can't dance to cook's music, you should see what happens when i
play some fatboy at a party i'm djing. while i'm defending musicians, i also
remember people putting down Keoki, whose music i like listening to here and
there. maybe people have heard his cd's and said he's no good, cuz some parts
of his cd's could've have been better, but he is just as good live as moby.
now something to do with moby. after listening to play over and over, i think
that it is a draw between paly and animal right(US). Ii've heard people
comment that south side is a pop track for the sake of being a pop track. i
must say i totally disagree with this. though it is a bit reminicent(spl?) of
the petshop boys, i think that moby made an incredible song with it. though i
can't understand what the point of the song is, maybe someone can elighten
me, cuz i'm not too good at reading into songs, it just sounds so damn right.
now if any song on that cd was made to be popular, it was bodyrock, which i
also really enjoy, and await the single for. sorry for rambling on or so
long, but i had stuff to say, so here it is.
thanks for listening

I think Cook's music is best made for dancing.. i mean he even
says he makes fun music.. and thats whats cool about his music,
its all fun music.
in case u thought i was the one bashing cook, i actually was just trying
to distinguish the difference between moby and him.

Animal Rights had some great songs. "That's When I Reach for my Revolver" is
amazing and totally unlike Moby. "Someone to Love" is manic and crazy, like
he is really really anxious to find someone to love, whomever that may be.
"Come on Baby" was kinky, sexy, and dirty. YOu felt like a piece of ass after
listening to it. Great song. "My Love Will Never Die" was hot. I did not care
much for the "Little Idiot" bonus CD. The ambient stuff on it sucked.
PLAY is a superior effort, almost as good, but not as immediate as,
Everything is Wrong.

couple people on the list posted questions or comments about songs.
New Dawn Fades is a Joy Division from Closer. they were sorta punk sorta
goth one of the greatest bands ever. after the lead singer killed himself
they turned into New Order, you might have heard of them*smile*
the other song
That's When I Reach For My Revolver is a Mission Of Burma song. i forget
what album it is from.
moby does both of these songs amazingly well. new dawn fades
is...incredible because he puts emotion into the song that Ian
Curtis(singer for Joy Division) never did. both versions are great,
different qualities.
i wish that moby would do some more Joy Division songs cause his cover
is just the best reworking i've heard. i know he was talking about it at
some point.*sigh* guess we can always hope for something
anyway. catch everyone latas

This is on Signals, Calls, and Marches...as much as I like Moby's version
(ironically enough Revolver was the song that first drew my attention) the
original is vastly superior, and I highly reccomend this album to anyone who
liked Moby's version (although I wouldn't vouch for any of MoB's other
albums...personally I never really got into them)
