Does anyone have or know where I could get a live version of 'When
it's cold I'd like to die?' I heard him do it in his show in Cardiff
in his no electronics phase. Although I love the version with Mimi
Goese this was completely different and just as emotional and
beautiful.
Also I believe that during th same tour he did 'Sex Bomb' by Flipper.
Am I right in thinking that he was briefly a member of this superb
band? Also was it recorded?
If you can help I would be most grateful.
Cheers
Ed Friday.

a film about the evolution of electronic music. go see it.
support your local repertory theatres.
our favorite guy musters up a couple of words in this film, he's on for
about 30 seconds-but he's THERE!
it was really interesting-if anyone has seen it, email me privately, just
like everything else, i have some qualms about it.
the film is called "modulations", by lara lee. a documentary about the
evolution of electronic music, with interviews, music, lights, sounds,
noises, action-
this is what i got out of it:
fsol are very anti-social.
coldcut/ninja tune-must buy their stuff.
ltj bukem-nice stuff. ambient jungle.
throbbing gristle-what a fashion statement.
techno-u.s./german/japan/uk=all different. i like german techno.
sasha is really good looking.
the moog guy is still alive.
squarepusher plays real bass in his shows.
there is no such thing as absolute silence.
georgio moroder is a god.
donna summer-where are you?
brian eno-glad you're around.
autechre-two guys. very spaced out. they are the shit.
have a good day.

I don't know if that was recorded. If it has it hasn't hit the bootleg
circuit yet. Which, as a person who frequently records and trades bootlegs
by his favorite artists, I have to say I've been highly disappointed by the
lack of Moby bootlegs out there. Has no one ever managed to get a line off
the board at one of his shows? No one ever snuck in a stereo mic? I mean,
there's some bootleg DJ sets, here and there, and the '95 Minneapolis show
(which was very poorly recorded -- sounds like a Walkman), but there are so
many bands, more and less popular that have wa-a-ay more bootlegs floating
around. Is Moby just that protective of the line outs during his
performances, or does no one care?
But that's not why I'm writing....
I'm writing to say that the band I work with (I don't play for them. I just
make lots and lots of phone calls) is thinking of covering WICILTD for
thanks2. Basically, using the instrumental version from EIW-M+R, amy singing
(if we can convince her to sing someone else's song) and Ben building all
kinds of weird tracks around the original. If it turns out, it will RAWK!

First off...I have been wanting to see this film ever since I heard about
it. Unfortunately, St. Louis doesn't seem to be a huge bastion of
independent film, so I don't think I'll be seeing it in the near future.
I do hope to one of these days, though...
You know, I didn't know that Robert Moog was still alive either, until I
started taking this class on electronic music (great class...get to mess
with an original moog, two kinds of ARPs, some other analog synths that
the professor built, and all manner of digital stuff too). Anyway, the
professor told us that not only is Moog still alive, but so is Stockhausen
and Berio, two major figures in the beginning of musique concrete. And
those guys have to be older even than Moog....weird.

Hello all,
I am new to this list, but not a new Moby Fan.
Has anybody seen or heard Porcelain from the Soundtrack CD that it
is/was supposed to be released on?
I would suppose that there would be some MP3s already ripped of it on
the Web but I have not seen anything yet.
Anybody else?

Hi everyone!
My name is Markus Wollina a.k.a DJ (well, bedroom DJ) Drop A Beat. I
live in Jena, a middle-sized German town. Though I'm only 16 years old,
my Moby collection is already pretty big (about 80 items). I won't name
every record I own, but some of my treasures are: the limited 10" of
Moby's Metallica remix, the rubber box of "come on baby", the limited
remix competition 12" of "everytime you touch me", moby's doundgarden
remix as a lt. ed. 7" and the vinyl version of the "mayday - judgement
day" album. The first Moby track I heard was "feeling so real", which
was the second record I bough from my own money and also one of the
tunes that brought me to techno. I collect everything I can get, though
that does not involve chart compilations including moby tracks. The
first time I've seen him live was in may of 1998 when he played at the
Rock Im Park festival. Though it was amazing to see him live, I think he
should do more of his rock stuff when playing live. My favorite bands
(besides Moby) are Underworld, Bis, The Chemical Brothers, Oasis, The
Jon Spencer Blues Explosion and The Pixies. Favorite DJs: TouchΘ,
Freestylers, DMX Krew, Mark Spoon and Clifford Gilberto. I'm also
building up an internet directory for techno and related subjects which
can be found at angelfire.com/hi2/techno, so anyone interested in this
should email me.

I have this... I went to a vinyl store for it though... so it is

The song that now plays as the theme on the Oprah Winfrey song is callled
run on.. it would make a cool remix.. it probably has some significance to
her
if she chose it for her new theme song..
btw, I had a dream on the 14th that the new moby album was an enhanced cd
that
played this totally psychidelic ambient pattern across the computer
screen.. in my
slightly impaired judgement I was quite confused as to why he did not
release it on
dvd... oh well.. that's dreams for ya!

benefit all of you

I was at the local HMV today looking for the sickness single (plastikman i
know... shut up!!! i'll listen to richie if i damn well please!!! AND i'll
go on a roadtrip to Ottawa to see him over spring break too. DEAL WITH IT!
*grin*) and i came across the Permanent Midnight soundtrack. $22.99. yeah.
right!!!!
ANYWAY, is it worth the money if i already have the honey single AND the
remix single AND the vinyl to pay $22.99 for a CD where I only recognized
Crystal Method (urg) and Moby? I'm sure i KNEW more on the soundtrack but
that's all i can think of at the moment. Anyone else have it? Is it worth
it? Yeah, I have a problem. I'm too obsessed with Moby so I'll probably
buy it anyway. How bout School House Rocks? I've seen that a few times...
once used... any good?
Oh yeah. One last thing. Off topic but a few of my friends have been
buggin the heck out of me cuz I haven't seen The Doom Generation. Anyone
reading this see it? Is it worth it? answer me privately i guess...

umm... try little hole in the wall stores with bitchy owners who like you
anyway tho...
oh wait. that's what i did. there's this really cool store in toronto that
the woman knows me so she always points out new techno and ambient stuff
whenever i walk into the store. she even remembers what i look like,
eventho my hair colour has changed at least a dozen times since i started
going there...
where do you normally go to buy moby on vinyl?
i know of three stores where i can get my moby vinyl fix...
ask around.
maybe someone will order it for you?
or make friends with a couple of DJs... they might have some connections to
help you out in a situation like this...
oh yeah. i forgot to mention this in my other post:
Pi and cube are both out on video now!!! YES!!!!
*ahem* im done.
- -kelly
p.s. the "play with your food" book that moby got the pumpkin pik for the
honey single now has a "play with your pumpkins" edition... all pumpkins...
tis cool but i'm not THAT obsessed to go buy it.
