Verbatim CD-Rs are definitely good. They look very nice -- the
data side of each disc is deep blue and the label side is white.
And speaking of CD-R deals, I just got a catalog in the mail from
Global Computer Supplies (http://www.globalcomputer.com/), and it
advertises some specials where you can get great prices on CD-Rs
(after rebate). Sadly, the rebates aren't available for the
Verbatims and TDKs, but $20 rebates are available for Maxell,
Fujifilm, Sony, and Imation 10-packs. But be careful -- there
are probably some limitations (for example, rebate limited to two
packs per address), which are not elaborated on in this catalog.
In any case, CD-Rs are no more expensive than decent cassettes.
And domestic shipping for one is either $0.76 or $1.01, if I
remember correctly.

just a quick note....verbatim cds won't play in all older cd players.
they won't play in mine. be careful if buying them. just a warning.
the best you can get are apogee. with the gold dye. they will play
in an 8 track! well, maybe that's an exaggeration....

What are these people's problems? They claim that Moby has become too
successful and involved only in money!?!?!?!
First, I would hardly call Moby a main stream success. He has only had a
few, marginally recognized singles in the US. I don't know about Europe,
but Moby won't be seen on the billboard's top 20(or has he?)
Second, I can think of no instance, nor can these people site an instance,
in which Moby has compromised himself merely for money.
Why is it that music elitists parallel success with selling out? We should
encourage good artists to make money off of their product. If a good artist
can market his art then why should he not profit off of it while at the same
time be free of ridicule from pseudo-music fans? Lack of financial success
is not a standard, nor litmus test by which music should be judged! Let
these elitist bastards cave under the weight of their own stupidity.

I completely agree. What I always find humorous is the fact that with
less-popular artists, or ones starting off, they will often gather a base
of fans who will later claim that "they sold out." Now, the question is,
when you find that artist that is new/young/less-known what is one of the
first things you do? You help spread the word. Why? Because you want
others to share in the enjoyment, you want people to see his or her
talent, and often times (not all) you'd like to increase their popularity.
But then when they do get popular, these same people are quick to write
off that artist because he or she is too "mainstream." This is so silly,
yet SO many people get sucked into this. It really is sad when you stop
and think about it, but then again, who cares. Not unlike that massive
usenet flame about Moby and DATs someone has on there web site, there are
always critiques and stupid arguments. I mean, go see Moby live, and
then tell me you give a shit whether any of it was on DAT. Who cares?
Whoah - I'm tangenting here. Time for bed.
Alright, enough bitching out of me,

Though it's off-topic, "South Central Rain" is my favorite REM
song. If they collaborated, Moby could play drums, seeing as how Bill
quit awhile back.
For what it's worth, I don't like they're new single. Just
something about it.

I hear that Moby is working on a new album, due for release next year or
something. Does anybody know when it is going to be released, and what
kind of music there will be on it? I suppose the new single Honey will
be on it, but are there other tracks in question as yet?
I would be very happy if any Americans on this list could get a copy of
the American (Elektra) version of The Prodigys Wind It Up single for me.
It's got seven tracks. I can't find it here in Norway.
Thanks,
Jon

Hi Everybody.
Since I'm new to the mailing list, I thought I'd
introduce myself.
My name is Chris, and I'm a 20-year-old college
senior. My Moby collection currently consists of all
his major albums and a small collection of his
singles and maxi-singles. I haven't yet delved much
into works under his pseudonyms (other than Voodoo
Child: the End of Everything). I think Moby is
incredible. I love the range in music he can
produce, and the power and energy in each song. Moby
can make you dance one minute and sit and ponder the
questions baffling mankind in the next.
Besides Moby, I like all kinds of music. I think
Bjork and Moby are atop my list, but Robert Miles,
BT, Aphex Twin, Hooverphonic, Cornelius, and the
Crystal Method are also favorites. I liek lots of
music, and my tastes change quite frequently (I
listen to Bach, Louis Armstrong, Patsy Kline, and a
whole score of others...).
I think this message is getting long enough. Looking
forward to reading and participating in some good
discussions. Maore later,
Chris
