  84. Actually...Who decides the hits is the record companies.
  85. Do you think suddenly across the land at the same time everyone just happens
  86. to love that new song.  NO.  The record companies filter their idea of good
  87. music(which is at times amazing music); leaving out better bands in the indie
  88. and unheard of section, and puts their music onto the radio.  If you are
  89. indie..usually if you have some talent and popularity one local radio station
  90. will spin you.  Those with the money make the rules.  MM isn't so much of
  91. talent, as he is image.  The opposite of your parents...so it must be a
  92. rebellion....whatever.

  153. the band.  of all the people that i know that bought the album
  154. with sweet dreams on it, only five or six got it because it 
  155. was manson.  record companies push songs that they
  156. want to succeed, but it's up to the people to request it
  157. or spend the money on the singles.  and i think that indie
  158. music doesn't get played because it has horrible circulation.
  159. the more that people hear it, the better off you'll be, but 
  160. small bands just don't have the money to press their music.
  161. and anyways, a lot of people aren't open minded to new
  162. music, so they want to hear the new manson single over a
  163. band that they've never heard of.  it's a problem that a lot
  164. of people have.

  314. on it and you want to hear what else the band does? to bring this
  315. conversation to a moby standpoint.. i got Moby-Everything Is Wrong (my
  316. first moby purchase) because I had heard Go a while back and then i saw
  317. him live and was amazed by it and wanted to hear more of what he did..
  318. was i wrong? what should i have done? waited til i heard every song on
  319. the album before buying it?

  328. behind it.. for a radio station to play your song.. you a) have to give
  329. them the actual song b) kiss their ass like crazy (in the us its illegal
  330. for a record company to give money to a radio station.. but gifts are

  375. music before it became polluted....hmm....:(

  392. I've got all of the Trophy releases and they're pretty solid-certainly not
  393. on par with more recent techno excursions by other bands, but good
  394. nonetheless.  I don't have End Of Everything, simply because it's due to be
  395. released domestically in the next few weeks.  Like you, I'm not willing to
  396. pay that much for it ;)

  506. many haven't heard them.  They have an inspired and influenced so many
  507. bands that I think all new music is somehow a result of this band whether
  508. or not it was meant to be.

  521. box set for only $20, and absolutely love the emotion and power in the
  522. music.  and the instrumentation is great too.

  909. member (who was it, sterling I think)... and it said Mo doesn't do much
  910. musically anymore;  she's a mom, and so she doesn't have much time to

  1013. out it was virtually unheard of-in fact my friends & I would take the cd
  1014. into industrial clubs to get them to play it.  In the past year and a half
  1015. however, he's decided to choose image over music, and sadly it shows up in
  1016. the creativity of his work (read: it sucks now).

  1032. !!!Are you serious?  I thought that Scream was one of the most intelligent
  1033. horror movies of the past 10 years (along with In The Mouth Of Madness &
  1034. City Of Lost Children).  The writing was amazing, the acting was superb-and
  1035. it ended with First Cool Hive ;)  I was quite pleased that he lent a song
  1036. to it.
  1037. Regarding the Saint; I think that most people will agree that it was quite
  1038. a mediocre film-nothing great & nothing terrible.  The soundtrack?  With
  1039. the exception of Everything But The Girl & Moby, it was a fairly forced
  1040. effort.  All of the "next big thing" artists are featured with their
  1041. respective "big" new tracks.  Get it for the Moby song if you must (I did),
  1042. but other compilations are much, much better (Wipeout XL & The Trip Hop
  1043. Test Volume 1 come to mind).

  1092. nothing at the big stores but my friend snagged berlin for a buck at
  1093. amvets last summer, i got a few lou reeds. check independant stores, or
  1094. thrift shops is all i can suggest. berlin is definitly one of the oddest
