It's really hard to pick a favorite Moby song, they are all perfect. But I would have to say Everytime you Touch Me. It has so many different emotions in it. It's great I love it.

Are you crazy?! TSIB is one of my favorite tracks off of Play. That's just a beautiful song. My least favorite is probably Rushing. That's the only Moby song I can think of right now that I really don't like, I usually skip over it, but actually, sometimes I do like it.
I don't want to be all pissy about 1-liners, but someone just left a message and all it said was "cool". I don't want to be too picky but, I mean, that's not even 1 line.
One more thing: I had a conversation about music with one of my coworkers . She said she thought Natural Blues was "spooky". Hmmm.

Fav Album? I guess my favorite full length album is Play, it's so beautiful and graceful. But my favorite non-full length album would have to be Move, I love that one!
Rock on Moby!

at this point, its absolutely "into the blue." the mix of "time's up" on rare is also pretty high quality, in my opinion...but, overall, favroite album is definitely "everything is wrong." a definite thing of beauty. and a joy forever, also.

i must agree with the guy who posted the first reply to this:
underworld is the shit. and their newer stuff is a lot less dark now that karl hyde kicked most of his habits. if you like really throbbing gut-churning dance music, though, nobody does it better than dubnobasswithmyheadman-era underworld.
if you're in the mood for vaguely politicized breakbeat, check out some early coldcut. this guys were some of the fathers of the big beat movement, and i would totally reccomend the atomic moog 2000/boot the system ep.
a lot of the new sounding, really ground breaking production is being done in hip hop these days, too. as always. jurassic 5 and handsome boy modeling school are both extraordinarily worthwhile buys. i hated rap before i heard j5. and, dude, if you haven;t heard any trip hop (massive attack, portishead's "dummy," some of the instrumentalist dj's like shadow and krush) you haven't lived.
but. i pose a question to the list: we here in america have a presidential election coming up. who's voting what? and to those bunches of you outside of this...estimable nation...whats it like on the outside looking in?

(For San Fran people) I called the Warfield, the tickets are going on sale tomorrow (not sure of the time, I think it was noon). They cost $26.50. Apparently, if you buy tickets at the Fillmore between 10:00 and 4:00 on Sundays, you don't pay the service charge. (why had I never heard this before?!) They're ticketmaster tix so you can get them at the Fillmore...that's what the woman at the Warfield said anyway.
And yes, polls ARE fun!
But I agree with the person who said the latest posts have been shit. True, but well, we do go through this every once and awhile. And...polls are fun! I'm surprised that a lot of you don't have Moby on your favorite albums list. I understand though.
I'm too lazy to make a favorite albums list, but here are some bands/artists/groups that I like:
-Moby
-BT
-Underworld
-silverchair (people laugh at me for this, come on, the last album wasn't so bad...)
-Jewel
-Mono
-Radiohead
-Blur
-Bjork
-Portishead
-Lamb
-Beck
-And I enjoy a bit of stuff like Marvin Gaye or Al Green every now and then.
hmmm, I feel like I'm forgetting a lot of bands, but oh well.
Songs:
-Hollywood Freaks by Beck!!! Damn I love this song.
-Debra by Beck (it's amaaazing live)
-No Rain by Blind Melon
-Bachelorette by Bjork
-Enjoy by Bjork
-Morning Song by Jewel
-White Rabbit by Jefferson Airplane
-She Drives Me Crazy by the Fine Young Cannibals (you know you like it too)
And I don't like:
-A lot of things that people have already said so I won't bother listing them.
Ok, I'm done now. My lists seem pretty boring.

>*STEREOLAB (they are the absolute best ever! everyone

I just got that album for my birthday 2 days ago. I don't share your exact enthusiasm Paul, but I do like it. I also have the First of the Microbe Hunters which I actually enjoy a little more than Cobra and Phases.
And what's playing in my background:
Op Hop Detonation by Stereolab.
Bye now,

at the risk of approaching this topic a bit late...(i was away all weekend, hanging with my girl and getting ready for college this fall) top ten favorite albums... in a particularly random order
1. dubnobasswithmyheadman - underworld (god-DAMN is this an album)
2. everything is wrong - moby (longevity has it...been listening to this one for like two years straigh now...)
3. sunday 8pm - faithless
4. give 'em the boot II (a sk-unk comp put out by hellcat records...very much reccomended)
5. achtung baby - u2 (their last truly superior album, and, in my opinion, surpasses joshua tree)
6. when i was born for the seventh time - cornershop
7. different class - pulp
8. quality control - jurassic 5
9. rhythm of the saints - paul simon
10. bunny gets paid - red red meat
favorite song is tougher...these really aren't in any order, i think
jesus christ - gay dad
blackbird - the beatles
so cruel - u2
when its cold i'd like to die - moby
dirty epic - underworld
missing you (dobie mix) - bjork
ring of fire - johnny cash
sour times - portishead
heroes - david bowie
on the road back home again - cornershop
as to rob's reply to my message (and i am kind of surprised how few people mentioned anything, considering the arms we were up in once religion came up a few days back...) well, i must say it seems a great deal like a sideshow in here, too. many americans do not take our politics seriously. in fact, more than a third of our population will probably not vote in this upcoming election. one of the features of our politics that i distinctly hate (strong word, yes) is that it really does seem like a two party democracy. learned teachers in government classes i have taken (both conservative and liberal) refer to our governemnt as "two-party" when in reality this is *simply not the case,* tho the reps. and dems. would have you believe this.
because we are not a parliamentary democracy, like the govt's based on the british system, the oddly named "third parties" have very little national presence. they are not taken seriously, though they are, i stress this, a viable alternative. some of the more vocal of the third parties are the reform party (which is no longer under the control of perot, and in fact does not seem to be under the control of anyone) the libertarians who win occasionally on local levels...and of course the green party. for further info on our uniquely bizarre political systm, i urge you all to visit www.ficus2000.com
I got my tickets today for the show at the Warfield about 4 hours after they went on sale. The front balcony section was already sold out. Wow. I don't want to sit in the balcony or anything, I got floor tix of coarse, I just thought that was rather quick. Well I'm glad I got my tickets when I did.
I'm really glad there's criticism of Moby on this list. It's stupid to just pretend to think that everything an artisit does is perfect. I'm glad we're not just idolizing Moby, that would get a bit boring.
And about crowd surfing and moshing: I love it! I've been in quite a few pits and I've gotten minor injuries but nothing huge. I'm not a very big person either, just a little girl. People are usually very friendly and pick me up when I fall, I've always had good experiences. At my one Moby show, I was in seats, which was hell. I was still dancing around and everything, but it's not as fun. I'd suggest the floor to the person who was asking for recomendations. I don't think Moby fans are particularly violent anyway :)
Woo, yeah, I'm gonna see Moby in about a month and 10 days!

I definetly agree with you. I walk to the majority of places I go in my everyday life. I love to listen to Play while I'm walking. 'cos it's pretty upbeat in the beginning, keeps me going with Bodyrock, Natural Blues, and Machete, and slows down at the end when I'm getting pretty tired. I also love to listen to stupid songs like Hits From the Bong or Insane in the Brain by Cypress Hill while I'm walking. Keeps me in a happy mood.

Hey all-
I been recieving the list for quite some time, but never contribute. I don't know why. Anyway, I like Moby a whole lot and a think he's a pretty nice guy. I got interested when a guy in my band started playing drums for him a while back. I don't own a lot of his records, but I have seen him live about 14 times, and each time I have been quite pleased.
As for me, I'm a graphic designer in philly who always appreciated hearing about new music and new ideas. thanks for your time.

Yep I like em too. I'm not extremely into art but I do like his paintings. Yeah that's a nice website. Here's some shortcuts to the Moby related sections of the site:
Yes, the band I am currently in, Holy Hand Grenade, features the illustrious Scott Frassetto on drums (when he's home, that is) He used to go out on tour for like four months out of the year, but now things have changed.... He's actually home right now for a week- of course I can't tell you exactly where his hometown is, in keeping with the "this is scott's hometown" tour joke. Our project is more xtc/yardbirds/who/daniel johnston oriented. I could probably send mp3s to anybody who wants to hear scott in a different context. Anyway, thanks for the warm welcome, and hope to hear from y'all soon-

I remember Moby saying somewhere that if he could, he would take Lisa Simpson and make her 20 years older and human. I think he has a crush on Lisa Simpson ;) except that she's 8...
And whoever's getting this new Moby book, tell us how it is. I don't want to buy it if it's just a long, boring bio that I've already read a million times. I don't really want it anyway, but if it's good I'll probably get it.

<<Why feel guilty? This is completely Moby related>>
Yeah I agree. It was an appropriate post. Nice page man. I love fanpages. Moby doesn't have too many fanpages. Especially if you compare him to someone like Bjork who has hundreds. So the more the better.
And whoever had the Lewis Carroll quote, you kick ass! I'm kinda obsessed. I have a pretty big Alice collection. The one thing I really want is an Alice in Wonderland metal lunchbox since I also collect lunchboxes, it would be damn expensive though. I just read this edition of The Hunting of the Snark which included really interesting commentaries by Martin Gardner. One of the most interesting things I've ever read.
Anway, hope that didn't sound creepy.

Nah, that's mobyonline.com not moby-online.com. But I wouldn't be surprised if it never happened. 1st it said it would be online early July, then mid August. I guess it's now officially mid August cause it's the 17th. I don't care all that much though. I really like fanpages and I wish there were more Moby ones but official ones sometimes aren't as great. I've notices a couple Greek pages. One is http://www.moby.gr. It looks cool but I don't understand Greek...
One more stupid little thing: I spent the day at an amusment park w/ a 10 year old the other day. Very fun, I'm sick of hanging out w/ people my own age. Anyway, they have a motion simulator ride that's about James Bond. They used Moby's reversion of the James Bond Theme as exiting music. Just brightened my day.

I hate that. Why can't they just release the "bonus cd" on it's own, so I don't have to buy Play again? Arg.

There's a bit in this month's Rolling Stone about Moby. (In "The Hot Issue" heehee). It's about his tour: how he's been touring for so long, how he thinks his shows are the best in the world, etc. Nothing new, just thought I'd mention it.
