im dionne, 21, from new orleans, but living in manchester. im new to the list.
ok--i have questions and statements.
when was moby on letterman? what did he perform? is he getting big in the states?
ok. i went to his show last sunday at the university and it wqas incredible. ive never seen so much energy from one person before, and it was great. are those bongos on stage? he played them so fast! the lights were amazing, and added to the intensity of the atmosphere.
i loved the show so much we decided to see it again in london. it was sold out, but we bought tickets from a guy outside. this venue seemed smaller, but it had a balcony all around the stage. it was just as passionate and energetic as the night before. i am now a firm believer that moby is a sexy sexy man.
i was going to fly home to new orleans last thursday for a week b/c its reading week here at the univeristy, so i have no lectures. i could have seen him on halloween! a friend of mine went, so i have to ask him how it went. im sure the lights werent very good b/c its an outdoor stadium, but i have no doubt he played brilliantly.
does anyone know who daniel miller is? hes the head of mute records, and i think i saw him at the show in manchester. i wish i would have gone up to him and found out, but i was too mellowed out to move.
anyway, hello to you all, have a nice day, and if anyone has any questions about the 2 british shows, feel free to ask.
bye!!
dionne
ps--i didnt know echo & the bunnymen were touring the states! i have a ticket to see them in november at the university, and im quite excited. the music is great here, and i never want to go home!!
What bugged me most about the article was the author letting his own bias against Moby show. The Len guy is certainly entitled to his own opinion, but the reporter should know better. This isn't the worst that I've seen Moby trashed though. On the moby.org site there's an archive of an infamous 1993-ish thread on alt.rave (or something to that effect) that is absolutely brutal. Moby himself participates in the fray.

Are you sure? My friend and I were wondering that too, but I we came to the conclusion later that it was a guy who looked *a lot* like him. On later reflection, I realized that there were more than a few skinny white bald guys running around the backstage area. Because I'm reasonably sure that Moby is a rather staunch anti-smoker.
i know this has nothing to do with cigarettes, but it is in the same realm. at the show in london last week, moby commented on someone smoking pot in the audience, and he said he isnt a pot smoker. so, we know he doesnt smoke pot.

Subject: (mobility) Play Limited edition (A bonus Cd) ?
Date: 18 Nov 1999 09:48:44 EST
Hi folks.
I just went to a French online store that sells a thing called:
Moby - Play (Limited edition) (A bonus Cd)
Do u know something about this release ? (Cause i don't want to spend 20 bucks - its expensive price - to get a cd that i already have and another one that is a collection of the last b sides or remixes ...)
Reference shown:VIR 8486260.
Thanks in advance.

Note: (To Bart) How do u manage to get all these Moby Cds ? You have won a lottery prize or something like that because I can't do it.)
np: Faithless - Why go ? (the single with Boy george, quite funny in fact)
I'm off to see Moby tomorrow night at Bay 33 in Sydney. Looking forward to it, as the last time I saw him play was at the Reading festival when he did his Animal Rights stuff, which is far too long ago.

>> yet one thing set me off..... He said that he saw a tatoo on the back of "Moby's" neck..... What the????
Yes, Moby has a tattoo of a cross on the back of his neck, above the collar line. You can see it clearly on the picture inside the cover sleeve for "I Like To Score" (In which I'm about halfway back in the crowd, on the right hand side!).

i too have that issue. in fact ive had it for a while and i figured it had already been mentioned on the list, but i havent been reading lately, so, oh well. i was flipping through the channels a little while ago and saw moby on house of style. apparantly hes doing some modeling for calvin klein. i thought that was a bit weird.
