Sarah-
Sorry to hear about the accident. I think possibly that LAPD will only
investigate if you can visually identify the driver's face. Reason is it
is too easy for the culprit to claim that he wasn't driving the car.
This is what Oakland PD told a friend who was also hit on his bike by a
hit-and run. Talk about maddening, I know how you feel. Hope you get
some retribution.

Has someone experimented with really big knobs? My brother gave me a couple
of them so we can explore some "very deep mud" together. He has a four
stroke Yamaha 400 WR. I guess he realized that he cannot turn his bike into
a DS and he is trying to pull me into his muddy kingdom of single track.
For this adventure I'm going to the allmighty 14 tooth front sprocket, and
I'm temporarily getting rid of the mirrors and rear turn signals...
All this preparation rose a question...
...Is this a good idea?..... AAAARRRRGGGHHH!!!! typing this I just realized
it is the first time in my life I ask myself this question BEFORE I'm in
some kind of potentially blood drawing mess in the middle of nowhere!!! I
must really be getting old...(I've ridden my moutain bike for weeks under
horrible weather over extremely gnarly terrain and still had fun! Of course
I was younger, stronger and quite waterproof then)
So, this elderly Mexican bandido (Not bandito, wrong spelling guys) would
appreciate comments on this tire change before he puts away his dirty, half
torn sombrero, brushes his teeth, gets a shave and dons clean clothes;
leaving his past life as the object of violent persuits of white hatted
sherifs with silver guns...

Sarah,
Sincere regrets for your accident, but glad you`re OK. It really is a
shame that this kind of thing is more common than we realize.
I agree with the Collective, in that a good lawyer should be consulted
before any other action, including any further comments or reports to the
authorities and insurance company.
Unfortunately it`s not the world our parents lived in, and protecting
yourself and receiving just compensation requires playing the game, which
means being led through the process by a lawyer. I don`t want to start
another NKLR sidetrack by the last statement because I personally detest
having to acquire the services of a lawyer, but at this time, it`s
necessary, to accomplish any type of fair outcome. I have had to do it on
two occasions, involving motorcycles, and I had the odds against me from the
start. With the aide of a lawyer, I was compensated in one case, and the
other at least resulted in prison time for the offender.
I hope you recover fully and be sure you are thoroughly examined,
whatever is necessary. It`s amazing what injuries or problems can show
themselves long after an accident.

If the source of the water that made the mud is from is
from above, like rain, you have a chance. If the source may be from
below, like in a riverbed, be careful. In either case, if you
get stuck, your in for some 'very deep' calculating and/or knee
bends and/or laughs.

Have you considered a crane? or a winch(not wench) with 100yd. cable?

Yeah, even realizing fun takes longer.

Hi Sarah,
I'm glad to hear your still walking. It could have been worse. You should
see a doc. and make sure everything is allright. I'm glad you got the tag #
of that a** hole. I have been ran down 2 times and have no sympathy for
stupid people. If you want to see the results from the last time, check this
out
http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/Track/6419/vision.html
The person that ran into me stopped, but I nailed the car pretty hard. I
would not have been able to get a tag #. I was lucky and had good insurance
that paid my medical bills, which were very high, and I got all I could from
that guys insurance policy, without sueing ($25000) and no lawyer. But every
situation is different. And that was a long time ago.
Go see a doctor and find out what kind of insurance that scum has, then
weigh your options. A lawyer usually gets a third or so.
I hope you are allright.
Watch out for them, cause they aint watchin out for you!
