We've discussed this before. If the vacuum hose kinks, the fuel
will still flow through the petcock, because the vacuum will
still be the same on both sides of the kink. This hose doesn't
flow like a vacuum cleaner hose. All it does is provide a
pressure differential, a vacuum, to the petcock valve to open it
up and allow gasoline to flow through the other hose.

Have you had that 3.25 front tire in deep sand? Did it plow, or
did it float? Thanks.

That makes sense Jeff, but others have reported that a
new line cured their ails. I haven't seen it first hand so
I can only speculate that some combination of collapsing
along with cracks somewhere in the hose doesn't allow
enough of a vacuum to reach the petcock. Maybe we can
talk someone whose been there into replicating it.

I'm a little confused why you would expect a magnetic compass
sitting above 153 kg of metal and mounted directly on metal
handlebars and in the vicinity of a couple of electrical circuits
to work.

Subject: (klr650) Supertrapp Quiet - Vibration?
Hi all,
I've just fitted a Supertrapp IDS Quiet to my (UK spec)
'99 KLR650, and in general am very happy with the
performance and sound improvement. One problem
though - at medium revs (no rev counter, but about
50mph in top) I feel a vibration through the right
foot peg. At high revs (70 in top) I feel vibration
through both pegs, and a lesser one through the
bars.
Very annoying - I was very careful to ensure that
the pipe had good clearance from both the frame and
side panel, so has anybody got any idea what the
problem could be? I assume this isn't something I
just have to get used to?!?
Thanks,
Andy

Forgot to add what I think is obvious - the vibration I'm
talking about wasn't there with the standard pipe. The
new vibration is a much higher frequency one than the
standard "thumper vibration" (which I actually like!).
Also, the bike is only 650 miles old, if that makes any
difference...?

That all depends on if you measure it at an angle, straight up and down, or
upside down. The other preferred method is to go with 150cc's (+/-
150cc's).
I hope this helps.

Well I live in NC and used to be of your persuasion until a took a closer
look ....global warming is not happening, and If it just ask farmers that
have constantly planted later and harvested early over the past years/
decades (I am telling you Jeff they well laugh at this global warming ) and
if it is warming there are lots of possible causes tilt of the earth on its
axis weather patterns just change every thousand years or so. ( not motors)
Why I said you are a leftist is because people on that side assign man that
much power ya know to change the world/weather when if all the science in
the world set out to warm the planet IT COULD NOT BE DONE. this is a liberal
thought I do not think we are that powerful.
I live in NC, ya know a place that is Called the Blue Ridge Mountains ? Well
that is what the Indians (sorry I am not political correct and will not use
the term native whatever) named the mountains for the fact of smog lingered
around and gave a Blue ridge effect in the sky by the way they didn't have
cars or motors. And use tress produce the chemical that makes smog! on their
own !
You see this it about control if you and all the left SCREAM loud enough and
work up enough hysteria..... well AlGore and all the rest of the "everyone
does it" liberal congress will be right there to take our rights away !
what I am saying is you and I can't change the weather neither can 250m
Americans
it is just not in our power but the left will say we can for political
reasons.
There are lots of other possible causes!
A week or so ago AlGore spoke to some school children a told them how the
Republicans are killing people with there environment polices and how Global
warming is going to kill us all or something like that well anyway turns out
in the story he did them a disservice because science is starting to move
away from this because there has been a recent study on weather patterns
that is contradictory .
I see this for what it is
This environment debut is all politics and control
How dare anyone say I can not drive down the rode I payed taxes on to use
,in the car I bought and payed for by myself you see what I mean by control,
singal person car , If I do not want to carpool well then so be it !!!!
We are part of the environment too.
I believe this will be exposed to be a corrupt movement, sorry man
Mike
PS.Jeff thanks for arguing with me.
I do not live in the mountians of NC I live in the costal plain region.

Compasses can be adjusted to work with metal around them - as in cars, but it
is more difficult to adjust for varying magnetic fields that may be created
by other electrical devices.

If anyone asks what the limits of a KLR are, these aren't them ;)
Although I did get stuck a few times, and the bike would run rough
after
coming out of some of the water crossings, the KLR took all of this
in
stride! What a bike!!!

there's no instructions. I managed to fit the Supertrapp

Excellent observation John. When I read the postings, I wondered if it may
have had something to do with the steel KLR handlebar - as Doug said his
compass worked, and I thought that on his Dr350 the bar might be aluminium.
