You could pretend to be old to get good rates. But it would mean you'd
have to develop a taste for the early bird buffets.
Florida KLR rate is $130/yr.

I've never had a problem and have been doing this for a long time. I do use
tires (K270) with very stiff 4-ply sidewalls and that probably helps a lot.
My last two Baja trips have probably totaled 2500 miles of off pavement
running those pressures. I use heavy duty tubes and lots of Slime, only one
flat in recent years.

Sarah---Believe me, aging is not all its cracked up to be. I'm in serious
denial about the whole matter. As far as the nice neighborhood is concerned,
Avila Beach is being torn up, excavated, etc by Unocal because of oil spills
over the years. I'm living in the middle of a construction zone. See
www.projectavila.com for details.

Everyone,
Since I got this thing started, If I can get 15 people to commit to buying a
saddlebag I will try to order $300 dollars worth of them depending on
availability etc.... I will sell them for $17.00 + shipping to you at the
best rate I can find. I'll keep the 33% discount for my troubles. Get back
to me ASAP because I am leaving for a couple of weeks for a work/vacation
trip on the 22nd of this month.
Mark
PS: If this flies, no complaining because they aren't as nice as your
buddies $100 saddle bag. Obviously there will no warranties, guarantees
etc...

Looking at the web page I think it's just poor web design that confusing
Kevin. It looks like the minimum $300 order refers to the "Doughboys
Quantity Discount" - that's where you get 33% off.

Beez,
Thanks for the reply. I used some washers for shims, so I'm not exactly
sure about how thick. I'd guess about .050".
As far as the fuel screw, not sure about that either - exactly. I ran it in
'till the idle slowed...then back it out likewise while counting the
turns...then set it at the midpoint.
I hate to spend the money on a dynojet kit because the bike is so close.
Also it has a stock exhaust and I'm not really looking for more power.
The KLX idea sounds like something to look into.
Thanks Again,

List and Michael;
I have an A-7 that eats light bulbs, in three years I have put in at least 5
bulbs and three fuses. Some listers have rewired the headlight circuit with
heavier gauge wire, don't know with what results though. I plan to rewire
someday, for the nonce I just keep putting in bulbs. Be sure and remove the
black plastic cover with two bolts, that fastens to the faring bracket and
covers the light bulb connection. You can do it with the cover on, but the
cover will chew up your hands! Don't ask me how I know! When the cover is
off, pull the wire and soft rubber boot off, push in and turn the lock
ring and release the bulb. Replace bulb, it will just sit in the socket by
its self if you don't jar it loose. Look at the lock ring and the socket
carefully and you will see how the tabs and slots match up. Line up the ring
tabs and slots on the socket, push in and turn to lock. Replace the rubber
boot , connect wire, and bolt the cover on. Done! The key is to take off the
black plastic cover off first. Sounds like a simple job, but if you have
never done it and its dark it can be difficult!
One late dark night in Steamboat Springs CO, after riding in over Buffalo
Pass I had both filaments go out, did not have a bulb, spent hours wrestling
the bulb out and walking all over town, could not find one! Rode 15 miles
with out a headlight to my campground and passed a cop who did not see me!
One of the scariest and stupidest things I have ever done in my life. Moral
of the story, carry spare bulbs and do not ride on public roads with out
lights!
I have the rear brake/ stop halogen light that Fred sells. Its been in since
Moab, about a thousand miles. The lens looks good, but there may be a slight
amount of damage to the silver plastic reflector. Looks like it may be
slightly bubbled around the socket, but to be honest, it may be nothing. I
did not look at the socket very well when I replaced the bulb so could be
normal. I do like the brighter bulb and would use it again!
At the same time I replaced the bulb I was having intermittent starter
switch problems.
Bill Haycock suggested I spray the switch with WD-40 to remove moisture. It
worked well!
John from Omaha, who is also a dim bulb sometimes!
