I may be helping him with his luggage issues, and I have referred him to
Mike Walburn (they live in the same area) to go and "try on" a new tank.

The bike keeps cool at speed, but get's hot at idle or going slow... I'm
thinking you're right. You might want to try warming the bike up with the
radiator lid off. "If" the thermostat opens, and everything starts flowing,
any air that "might" be trapped in their should burp out. You can the top
it up. However, this might not be necessary with the overflow resevoir and
all that.

Yeah, I got around 20k miles using the same stuff but I didn't lube as

I bet he doesn't. He's from BC afterall. I guess you didn't check out his

Hey Bogdan, when It takes almost no time for your compressor to build up
pressure and your air tools start to act like squirt guns you may want
to drain off some of the water.(g) Drain your tank often enough that it
doesn't worry you that the bottom of the tank will rust out or freeze
and split the tank(It would probably take a lot for that) If you are
running a paint sprayer you will want to drain it every chance you get
and run an air dryer.

Guys, I'm on my fist compressor. (No comparisons to camels or seals please)
How anal are you folks about draining the water from the tank. Everytime you
use it, like the manual says? Every week? Every year? I live in a dry
climate but there's a little water in there after every use. Bogdan

Subject: (klr650) KLR Motor Oil
FWIW. Considering all the posts recently re motor oil, I think many on the
list may benefit from the info at Bel-Ray's Tech Info page -
http://www.bel-ray.com/consumer/Q&A%20pages/q&amo.html.
I reached 500 mi on my A14 Saturday, and wanted to change the oil before a
ride planned for Sunday. I had intended to use Bel-Ray's EXP, which is a
Semi Synthetic, in 10W40. This would have served as the second stage
break-in oil, until I go to full synthetic at about 2,000 mi. Well, the
dealer I needed to go to for a filter only had 20W50 anything, and it was
getting to be late Saturday afternoon, so I bought the KawChem 20W50. With
this oil in, at 60=B0 F ambient, the engine seemed slugish on turnover, and I
couldn't get it to idle higher than 2,000 RPM on full choke; not that I
typically idle higher than 2,000 RPM on choke, but before the change, if I
used full choke, I had to back it way off as soon as it light up to keep it
from racing above 2,000 RPM. So, I will find some EXP 10W40 to change to
before riding again. In my opinion, 50 weight oil is to heavy for a new,
reasonably close tolerance, engine, especially water cooled.
I remember that Suzuki did a study some years back & found that 50 weight
petroleum based oil actually caused their air/oil cooled engines to run
hotter than 30 & 40 weight oils due to internal friction from the oil
itself.
