I know a lot of ya'll don't think this applies to you. But dual sporting is
more than Adventure Touring, It's more than Street Legal Trail Riding, It's
more than exploring. It's something we all have in common, but each of us
have a different perception. Those that like to ride roads have just as much
at stake as those that prefer trails. We're in this boat together, and Big
Brother is doing his best to shut us ALL out and off of roads and trails in
National Forests in the East, and BLM management areas in the West.

Hmm. Anger management. Well, how about this.
Realize that you aren't hurt.
Realize that a hit & run of your bike is much less offensive than a hit &
run of you.
Realize that you don't have bursitis in your hip for the rest of your life
from the impact -- just a broken turn signal.
Realize that because it's a cabbie, his boss is gonna come down on him --
you actually have some recourse beyond the local constabulary, which, if NY
is anything like LA, is a tad overworked -- particularly in non-fatality hit
& runs.
Take 5 deep breaths.
Drink some chamomile tea.
Park your bike on the sidewalk next time (f*ck 'em!)
Oh, and you probably will continue to scan the backs of cabs for that number
for a week or two. Catch yourself every time you do it, and remind yourself
that your energy and concentration would be much better spent driving
defensively. Honest.
I once sat in front of a cafe sipping a cup of coffee, and watched a lady
back into a space, realize that a bug pulled out of the space behind her, so
she continued backing up, using her rearview mirror, not looking over her
shoulder, and she saw the look on my face as i realized she hadn't seen my
vf500f (red -- about the height of a 7 year old) and she ever so slowly
backed into it and lifted it up on its side stand. Thankfully, she didn't
tip it over into the nice shiny Jeep grille behind it. And she did finally
realize that she had hit something -- then proceeded to ask if it was legal
for me to park that way (the only legal way to park a motorcycle on the
streets of California).
Other people are stupid. Breathe in, breathe out. Don't become one of them
because of anger.
Oh yeah, and fantasies of public humiliation/flogging/choking/explanations
of exactly why he should no longer have a license/????? of the driver --
those can be really fun. :) Just not while you're driving.

I was never able to make the dude or his van. I just know it was a dark

Subject: (klr650) Turn and lights knobs. Also are KLR650 and Tengai clocks the same?
Hullo guys!
My turns signal knob on the left hand side of the handle bar (what do you
call that thing? Switchgear?) has given up the ghost, so much so that I
can't signal right anymore (which in the UK is not a good thing to not
have). I've tried to take it out and only managed to rip it out. Anyhow, I
can't just buy the knob but instead would have to get the whole thing,
which is 80 quid (120 dollars?). I can't find any at the scrappers so far
but was wondering if anybody would know if other models' knobs would be
suitable, like the KLE500's for example.
A bit UK centric I guess but worth a punt.
Also, I was wondering if the clocks on the A series KLRs and the ones on
the Tengai are the same ones. There's a scrappie that's got it in and I
was curious. If it's fancier and nicer, I might try to fix it on mine.
Oh, one other thing...no, I'll put that in another mail.
Cheers,
Yus
