Here is the scoop on the new GSPD!

It is such a delight to have someone on the list that is so well connected
that he can give us the true low-down on manufacturer's thoughts (a concept
liberally interpretted). Well done, Knot.

This must be an air cooled bike because as we all know, "Camels can go
along ways without water."

Search the archives. Somebody reported painting all their plastic using, I
think, Plastikote flexible primer and paint - with good results. Whoever it
was gave a step by step description.

Could it be a cross between Maico's air cooled "501" square barrel and a twin
pipe CZ.
Maico brake-o, make of tin, ride'm out and push'm in. (And Knot adds;
Control the throttle, and you will win!)

Subject: (klr650) Jammed fuel petcock??? now why won`t the darn thing start...
Thanks to all responses on the petcock. it is now fixed. well it always
worked but i couldn`t tell any better.
So here is the problem.
The bike doesn`t start.
It cranks, it has fuel, it has spark. The best i`ve been able to get out of
it is to reach 2000rpm then dies. Which mean it ran about 3 seconds. Doesn`t
accept any throttle imput. Starts on full choke then dies 3 seconds later.
WHY
Stuff i`ve done to it in the past month: adjust valve and timing, new
sprockets, chain, sparkplug, air filter, head gasket.
Tried to get it running again and now it doesn`t even catch. Can anyone help
me? Somebody had to go through this before right?
I bought the bike from a good friend and it ran just fine before he put it
away. I got it with no fuel and oil in the cylinder. Does that help? I dunno
what to do. Best of all i just sold the trailer i had so if i have to go to
the dealer it will cost me the price of reting a U-Haul.
Man this sucks.

When it comes to scanning the microfiche films....
You might try finding someone (say a professional photographer) who has a
flatbed scanner that is set up to scan tranparencies. You would want one
that is in the thousands of lines per inch range (not a consumer model).
That might have the resolution to pull an image of a fiche. Other places
to check would be a printing shop or newspaper. But you would want to do
this unofficially as it's probably a violation of copyright law.

Subject: (klr650) Bike accident NKLR
Yesterday I had the misfortune of having a rider on a CBR600 F2 slam into the
back of my truck while I was taking some junk to the transfer station. He
was far more unfortunate than me. I was slowing for a right turn (turn
signal on) and he was riding up fast. It looked like he was attempting to
split hairs between me and oncoming traffic so that he wouldn't have to slow
down. Well... he didn't make it and his CRB met the left rear corner of my
3/4 Chevy 4x4. To make a long story short I went ot go visit him in the
hospital today. His name is Bryce and he had just got the CR600 out of
winter storage and took it out for a spin. He had gone no more than 3/4 mile
before running into me. As asked Bryce when was the last time he had ridden.
He thought it was around late October. He said he just completely misjudged
the situation. He told me he was doing some great riding before he put the
bike up for the winter. "Guess I was just a little rusty", was his comment.
The moral of this story? If you put your machine up for the winter, be
careful when you bring it back out. Humble yourself, leave your ego at home
and take it easy for the first ride or two until you get the feel back. If
you don't, you may end up like Bryce; broken bones and totalled bike.
