Beleive it or not, hairspray has worked on several dry-erase boards with
permanent pen used by accident. I don't know if it would have the same
effect on the KLR plastic but it's not much of a threat to the finish.

$1,200 for my '90 Tengai with 7,700 miles (~12,000 KM) on it in perfect
condition except for cracked rear side panels.

I may be able to help you out.  I'm a beginner with KLRs, but the folks
on the list have walked me through the basics.  Let's forget just for a
moment that I'm the guy sending out jpegs last night asking what the
part was that I had left over after my valve adjustment, carb mod, and
exhaust installation.    :-)

On the other hand, I'm pretty good with a camera.  I have a digital
which can do nice close-ups, and would really enjoy helping out with the
article's illustration.  Let me know!
