Another good adhesive remover is "Goo-Gone".
BTW: WD-40 is safe on plastics for this type of thing. It's not a volitile
solvent like acetone, MEK, ether, chloroform, etc. Motocrossers use it all
the time when changing graphics on their bikes.
The our submarine crew uses it to clean crude oil off clear acrylic (a
chemically sensitive plastic) sample boxes & chambers, the acrylic sphere &
viewports and GRE compents on the sub.
When you're a mile down, brittle plastics are the last thing on your mind.

Absolutely. I warped mine with a disk lock. Sounds like my symptoms.

** Another Rest Day due to terrorist threats and forced airlift to Libya,
race to resume on Monday, Jan 17, 2000.
** KTM protest BMW's tire swap. FIM rules in BMW's favor, KTM to appeal.
Rumors Heard in the Pits:
KTM: General feeling is good, engine reliability problems will be less a
factor due to shortened race. KTM rider Cox is not happy since he had to
change engines in the desert during race conditions and feels cheated.
According to Cox, "All leading KTM riders were planning on engine
replacement, I chose to swap early, now maybe the original engine will go the
shortened distance - Rats!" Roma replied, " Its like NASCAR and pitting for
tires under green, Cox is unlucky, me, I change my engine when nobody looking
- - on airplane trip to Libya, pretty smart, ah?"
BMW: German intelligence is investigating reports that the Spanish and
Austrian governments are responsible for the "terrorist threat". Said lead
investigator, Herr Snoop, "Zeez guys (KTM) will do any zing to win." In
other news, BMW tech director, Prof. Duh Shaftherr said, "Investigation of
Deacon's (Boxer 900RR) crash has revealed that the "fuzzy dice" trim option
used by John lead to an unstable condition at certain speeds -- seems the
dice went into resonance at the drive shaft's first critical torsional
speed.....We have removed the dice from Jimmy Lewis' rig, but the chain gang
(F650RR) will continue to use the dice. Woody trim package is still a go!"
When R. Sainct was ask about KTM's protest he replied, "How do you say in
English - cry babies, wa, wa, waaaaa."
Kawasaki: All 3 riders still in the race. Slowly moving up in overall
standings, hope to finish in top 100. When the lead rider was asked to
access Kawasaki's progress in the race, he said, "All bikes running very
good, riders tired but rest days nice, seems that valves are "tight" although
we had them serviced at authorized dealers all along the route. We believe
the African technicians are using the North American procedure where they
"listen" to the valves. We think, this not good. One rider reports a wobble
at slow speeds, thinks it is wheel related. Will be checking with our
international tech support group at klr650lists--- for recommendations. See
you in Cairo."
Harley Davidson: Harley plans to sue KTM for trade mark infringement.
According to Harley, the Orange and Black KTM color scheme is already in use
by the Motor Company. KTM was not available for comment.

I think there is also a 3M product for use in body work for getting adhesive
slime off that can be purchased at better discount auto supply shops like
Pep Boys. You could also go to an automotive paint store and getting
something.

Here is Elden Carl's advice:
"Jack the bike up under the engine so the rear wheel is barely touching the ground.
Loosen the upper shock bolt and remove the bottom shock bolt along with the lower bolt
holding the lever.
Swing the Uni-Trak link out of the way
Remove the upper shock mount bolt and pull the shock out the bottom."

Ocala National Forest would be one place that would be right off I-75 on
your way to Key West. Not a whole lot going on in south Florida, except
for the interior south and west of Lake Okeechobee towards Big Cypress.
Depending on where you stay in the Keys, there are some interesting side
roads. And if you're inclined, you can try riding nekkid down Duval
Street in Key West to see if anybody notices.
