Bogdan: Here's my opinion, trivial though it may be. Why don't
you use the convention of distinguishing "reply to" quotes from
replies with a line-leading special character so we don't have to
think so hard to separate what you wrote from what someone else
wrote. I believe you use Netscape; I'm sure it has this option.
I'm encouraged in this request by the fact you recently conceded
to a list consensus that quotes come first in replies. Hey! I
always enjoy reading your comments -- even when I have to work
for them.
Verle Nelson (whimsy@gj.net <mailto:whimsy@gj.net> )
Verle, I've yet again been uncovered as a computer idiot. I'm too
dumb to understand what you mean by " reply to" vs. "line leading special
character". I'd be willing to learn. BTW I've been unable to access either
of your poetry sites for quit some time. I'm using stored addresses one of
which, Juantu worked before. Bogdan

The front sprocket has always been a bit loose on my 600B1, and with
new plates and different make sprockets, so I assume it's normal.

I believe that's been the case with every chain driven bike I've
owned. I wonder if it's designed loose to protect the shaft & tranny. I also
wonder if it contributes to wear. My front sprocket is always the first part
of the drive train to go. Bogdan

Ever seen a freeway like I-5? More fuel passes you by (in the tanks of
cars and trucks) in one minute than all the MCs on this list will burn in a
year.
And why is it always what others can do? Leading by example is far more
powerful. Even kayaking requires frivolous expenditure of resources
(food). Malnourished kids in India could live a week on what you'll wolf
down in one kayak or bike trip.
Here's my suggestion: Get some diversity training. There are lots of
people in this world who do not share your religion (at least to the
extreme that you do). No matter what you do, population will increase to
meet the food supply - but you'll have lots of opportunity to practice new
diversity skills.

Tried this on my KLR but my trunk wasn't long enough. My feet are flat though.

Subject: (klr650) KLR650 & Super Sherpa tests
Hi folks:
In the latest issue of the Canadian magazine Inside Motorcycles (Vol2 Iss9),
there is a test of the Y2K KLR650 and Super Sherpa. Be advised that these
are CDN models. The KLR sort of looks like a KLX, purple and green. Also,
suspension is shorter, tank is smaller (14 litres), swingarm is 5mm shorter,
no windscreen, and has a dual piston front brake. It also has the model
designation C-6, as opposed to last years A-14. And it's 15kg heavier than
the A-14. Article was written by Warren Thaxter.
All in all, they liked both machines, as long as you didn't expect them to
be dirt bikes. But they loved them as Dual Sports, or Dual Purpose bikes as
they fondly remembered from long ago.
Cheers,
Rudy Burger

Great! Do you think we can move a large part of the population of Sri Lanka
to Texas? Overpopulation is more a concern in places like Sri Lanka that,
while providing well, only provide well enough for the amount of people that
the creator of this whole kit-n-kaboodle deemed right. You can only rape
the land with so many people, or so many crops. (Such as in California) I
don't know how much you really taste your food when you eat, but if you eat
with the seasons of where you live, you really get a taste of just how
crummy all those tomatoes from California taste in December.
To counter the overpopulation thing, if we just stopped vaccinating folks,
and destroyed all but emergency medical services (the only thing Western
medicine is good for), the world might have a chance to actually cull some
of the fat, wasteful cattle that seem to be roaming the surface that always
seem to be taking, but never giving back to the planet.
To tell the truth, I think that most land in this country (United States)
should be kept free from any real trappings of society as we now know it.
I'm buying a KLR within 2 weeks, and it will be my only vehicle. I haven't
owned/operated a motor vehicle with any regularity since about early 1995.
I want to get a bike in part, at least, for sheer carnalitys sake. I wanna
just have my own wheels for now, not have to hitch, or go Greyhound, but
take my happy ass to the highways and byways of America, as I see fit. But
as someone who spends a bit of time in nature, appreciating all that was
given to us by the Creator, I think we should have more space to NOT have to
hear the buzzing of cars, trucks, airplanes, and yes...... offroad vehicles.
I see no reason to think anyone has a right to go out and churn up the
ground, all in the name of shits and grins. It comes off to me much the
same as folks who hunt for trophies, not meat to feed them and their
families.
I digress......
I do however want to get a bike capable of going farther "back" than a car.
Something that is light, manuverable, gas-efficient, easy to maintain, and
easily camoflagued when I take it to spots where other people frequent and I
want to not have to deal with the damn "two-leggeds"! So needless to say,
I'll be buying a KLR650 to get me to spots where I can easily *on foot* get
farther away from people. Oh, yeah.... You'll probably find me at times in
Albuquerque, El Paso, Tuscon or Phoenix..... Just drinking in the city vibe,
too! Why, cause the bike I want is at home taking me to that side of me
also.

To whoever was talking about jumping a KLR. Go to my Picture Pages page,
look through my pictures. There a a few of me jumping my poor baby.
Nothing high, but very, very far. You can guesstimate how much air I was
getting by looking at the pics closely.
I'm sorry, I'm so sorry, I was on medication, I didn't mean to, my mommy
never loved me, it wasn't my fault... ;)
p.s. Anyone have a link to the pics of that helmetless guy jumping his KLR

So does Dual Star have the fairings taken off the Marine KLR's?
I have heard good things about the Kenda 270 tires for offroad and on. Also the MT 21 rear and Dunlop K139 for the front for mostly offroad.

I got a call back from Mike at Dualstar yesterday. I had left a message
asking about prices for plastic. You will not find any plastic for better
prices than his! He's got a load of y2k plastics (fairings, shrouds, etc.)
He's also got new stock tires for cheap! gas tanks, and shocks too! He seemed
like a really cool guy. I'll give him my business when I get some dough.
Give him a call and leave a message. He'll get back to you eventually.
