This is true. I have a friend who would buy worn-out ex-police cars at
auctions in the states and then sell them in Mexico for a hefty profit. Not

Subject: (klr650) Mexican policy
Hi guys/gals,
At the risk of starting something horrendous, I'll try to explain why this
fee was devised.
Mexican politics never plan ahead, they only react. So we have thousands of
cars that have been smugled in the country. Official car dealers complain a
lot about this, so the government figured that tourists don't really sell
their cars in Mexico, these are sold by pros. The cars these guys s sell
are not worth much more than $600.00 so no car smugler is going to invest
more than what he can get from his dirty deed.
So if you are a tourist, you'll get your car out of Mexico and get you doe
back; if you are a car smugler, that's another deal.
Personally I think it is a silly thing to do when it is ver obvious that
people need cheap cars to be more productive. Instead of trying to stop the
smugling, the gvmt should reduce the 100% federal tax we pay on new cars.
Thinking of it the government should do many things like stop whatever they
are doing now, whatever that is; spontaneous caos is much better than the
induced one we enjoy here!

Subject: (klr650) Stock front shield vs Clearview
Just had the opportunity to take my "new" 95 KLR for an extended ride
this evening. Up until now, it had been 2 miles to the grocery in 30
degrees etc.. After about 100 miles at speed from 45 to 70mph, I have a
question for those of you who have used both the stock front shield and
the taller replacement models. Do you experience as much buffeting
around the helmet with the stock as you do with the extended (mine is a
Clearview)? The stock shield wasn't included with my bike, so I can't
make comparisons, but the Clearview left me with blurred vision and a
headache after 30 minutes or so. Is Kawasaki the only source for a
stock screen? What are approximate prices? Is the stock screen worth
trying if I desire less helmet buffeting while not minding less wind
protection?
I test rode a friend's bike before buying mine, and didn't notice these
symptoms. He had a 2000 model. However, I didn't ride for an extended
period at any speed, and I used his open faced helmet instead of my
closed faced. Too many variables to make an evaluation, so I thought
some of you may be able to help...

Your question is timely. Friday, I installed a new 16 inch Rifle windshield
on my KLR650. The quality, fit and finish of the product was fine, but I've
already removed it, repacked it and stored it away because the buffeting was
worse with the new shield than it was without. Imediately after trying my
KLR with the Rifle shield, I rode the same course on a naked bike and found
the smooth air much more tolerable. For the purpose of this test, I rode
with open face helmet, sunglasses and no face shield in 40 degree weather.
To be fair, my eyes did not water behind the windshield; they watered
considerably on the naked bike. Still, I really disliked the severe
buffeting behind the windshield.
My problem with the stock shield is: it puts a wind blast on my upper chest
which goes right up my face shield. For this reason, yesterday I
experimented with removing the mini-fairing or windscreen entirely but
couldn't come up with any ideas I liked or found esthetically acceptable. So
I'm back to the stock shield, probably permanently.

From a site of Netiquette Guidelines at
http://www.va.gov/publ/standard/internet/rfc18551.htm
in the Table of Contents 3. One-to-Many Communication
which can be clicked on or go directly at
http://www.va.gov/publ/standard/internet/rfc18553.htm
Within the topic General Guidelines for mailing lists and
NetNews it states - If you are sending a reply to a message
or a posting be sure you summarize the original at the top of
the message, or include just enough text of the original to give
a context. This will make sure readers understand when they
start to read your response. Since NetNews, especially, is
proliferated by distributing the postings from one host to another,
it is possible to see a response to a message before seeing the
original. Giving context helps everyone. But do not include the
entire original!
You can see how the replies flow together from first to last in
this post where I wanted to reply to the original post by Bogdan
and Arne's reply at the same time so as not to loose contexts.
I recommend that everyone on the list read though the Netiquette
Guidelines site as it can only make us all better posters.

search for Prexport dual sport boots and found several sources. Any favorite

I have to concur with your impression of the quality of Joe Rocket equipment.
I bought one of their tank bags and it has to be one of the most stupidly
designed and unusable pieces ever put up for sale.
It was as if the tank bag was designed by someone who had never been on a
motorcycle. It was obviously never tested before being put up for sale.
