Thanks Gary for the compliment. Glad the spring is working out for you.
I learned today that Progressive has gotten smart and started installing the
new 500/560 spring on their Larry Roeseler shocks. They should be the same
price as with the old spring.

Can't go wrong using zip ties. My left shroud has been held on like this
ever since I got my bike. They work very well, just drill two small holes
in the shroud, thread the zip tie through and around a spot that will hold
it solidly. If you ever need to take the shroud off, just cut the tie with
a wire snip and replace it with a new one, they are really cheap.
For all you guys who are going to mount Christmas lights on your house, even
those of you with vinyl siding, I have found the best method is to install
small eye hole screws into the eves, then use this as an attachment point
for the light string using, what else, zip ties! It makes it so much easier
putting the lights up and taking them off at the end of the season., It is
also a lot safer than the method I saw my neighbor using, a staple gun, and
not as damaging to the house. The eye hole screws stay in permanently, and
aren't noticeable in the off-holiday season. For vinyl siding, you have to
pre-drill a hole to screw into some wood beneath. The zip ties I use for
this are green, the same color as the light's wire.
Jeff--lets everyone run up our electric bills this season to spread some
cheer.

OK, I'll try restating my question. While changing rear brake pads, has
anyone ever noticed the black plastic-like round thing that sits in the
piston moving about freely? Did it move about, slide out on its own, or was
it rock solid and didn't move about at all?
Thanks,

Listoids,
I was contemplating altering my license plate mount so it sits higher to
avoid being munched as so many have recommended. Does anyone (Cal riders?)
know if the law in Cal requires running the license plate light?
It surprised me to see it, none of my previous bikes had it. Such luxury!
(for law enforcement anyways ;-)
I'm looking for the hidden CD-player now.
BTW, to avoid confusion, I am subscribed to the list with both my work and

Are there any laws against having this much fun?

Oh great, more homework! Hey, I got finals coming up. I'm a little
strapped for time right now. I guess I could make a simple drawing, a free
body diagram listing the principal forces and moments involved. I'll get to
it after I finish my special project for my fluids dynamics class, after I
finish my problems for my materials science, after my take home quiz for
mechanics of materials, after my homework problems for thermodynamics, after
I finish putting the lights up on the house and get the boxes of X-mas
decorations out of the garage, after.........
Hey, I'm going to be off the net for a couple of weeks guys, take care!

No worries... we're all learning.
What seems to work for me goes kinda like this... I hit "reply all" to a
message. In the new window is the message that was originally posted, and
whatever I'm going to add. The first thing I generally do is trim the fat
by dragging my mouse (while holding the left button down) over an area that
I don't need. This action highlights it. When I've grabbed what I want, I
press the "delete" key on my keyboard and it disappears. I keep doing this
until I'm left with the core of the message I'm responding to. Deciding
what the core is can take a little practice unto itself... and sometimes
I'll leave most of the original message... it all depends on what I'm going
to write I guess.
Then I move the cursor BELOW [ right Bowgdan ;^) ] the original message and
add my piece.
Sometimes I'll not delete a portion. Say I just might want to move it for
organizational purposes... then I'll highlight it - select the "cut" feature
(which places it on the clipboard) and then move my flashing cursor to the
area where I want to place the saved message. Selecting "paste" moves what
you saved on the clipboard back into your message where you want it to be...
Lastly, before I hit send, I try to remember to delete the added recipients
of the message, and just leave the list address... and double check the NKLR
status...
Hope this helps...
Arne

I moved my tag up, and it fits behind the light. I have the reg US tag, and
just use the bottom holes on the tag, and the top of the tag goes between
the light and fender, so the light still shines on it.
But only till it gets covered in red clay or mudd.

Jose,
I think the radiator shrouds are around $50.00 each, they come with the
stickers on them, its been a while since I ordered them. They are a dealer
only item(unless that has changed in the last 6 months).

i just took my plate and layed it flat on an open vise and took a large
socket and layed it on the top edge of the plate and hit it with a big
hammer. causing it to be indented so that it would slide up under the light
and you can use the two bottom mount holes on the plate.

Subject: (klr650) Bashplate(s)-for sale, by Slide
All you KLR dudes,
Unimpressed, inferior, lacking, dissatisfied is how I would
describe my view of the Moose, MSR, WB, and all the other bashplates I
have ever seen for the KLR.
I have seen motor damage to KLR's that none of the above
plates would have prevented. So, I never bought one.
Furthermore, it is the opinion of Elden Carl, and myself, that the 'KLR
cooling system design is compromised', and bashplate design is to some
degree a part of this.
The above factors have resulted in my design and construction of a
Bashplate
for the KLR 650.
Features:
- -It is all 3/16"x1" band and 1/4" plate aluminum.
- -It debateably protects 'better' than the above plates in the area they
cover, and it
protects greater area. It comes up both sides sides of the motor to
protect both rotor/clutch side cover areas.
- -It allows substantially greater airflow/cooling around the motor than
the stock plate.
- -The oil sight glass is still easily visible.
- -The oil drain plug is accessible.
- -It mounts using stock mounting points.(add 'U' bolts if you wish)
Okay- I am considering making a small number of these for sale, since
others have asked me to. If anyone is interested in having me make them
one send me a note off-list for pix and further questions. They are
$125. Standard Workmanship Material Garrantee. Iam accepting orders for
a limited number, and time(Dec.31) only. To Be Cont. based on
feedback.
