Anyone know what the output wattage of the KLX is? My manual
only identifies the voltage capability, which is 34 @ 3400 rpm.
Thanks,
Marick

This is posted to Alan Roach of Baja Designs.
The answer is probably on http://www.bajadesigns.com but I'm too busy to
check. Alan, if you have time, here's a some questions for the KLR list:
1) What is the stock output of a KLX-650?
2) What output is available after a "rewind"?
3) What is the stock output of a KLR-650? Are there separate coils for
headlight and charging? So what's the max wattage headlight you can run on
this bike?
4) What output is available after a "rewind"?

Might be a dumb question, but what kind of bike is a Helix?
A Helix is a 250cc Tupperware scooter by honda.

Any and all suggestions are welcome!

If youre adding something like a radar detector, you'll want to wire right
to the battery with an inline fuse and maybe even run a resistor plug in the
bike. If its going to some lighting, possibly tap into the headlamp supply,
or if the wattage is high enough, right off the battery. Make sure to use
the right gauge wire for the amount of current you plan to draw. 55w bulb
for example is 55/12= 4.6A. I dont have a chart of gauge / amperage handy
though.

I know we're a pretty open minded bunch of folks, craving PC800's and all,
but since when did a Helix become a bike!

Couldn't help but notice you have a KLR and a Helix, interesting
combination. I own both a KLR and a Helix also. How many listers have a
combination of bikes that are as different in purpose and riding style as a
KLR and a Helix?

I've searched the web and called Ah-chair-bis and as others have reported
the Fast Front Fender (low) is history. Worse, Ah-chair-bis sells direct so
there isn't any pipeline to try and find. So, my fellow listers, I'm on the
prowl. If you have one you wish to part with let me know. If you see one on
your favorite dealers shelf write me. Thanks.

Acerbis will still make the fast fenders front and rear, but they will only
be sold in Europe. Dual Star has a Euro connection and can get them, it
does take awhile, however.
As a side note. Acerbis is in the midst of a management upheaval with two
of its senior owners leaving the company. The new management is looking to
streamline the product line, so it would be a good idea to snag those items
you want in case they are on the chopping block. The old style Rally Guards
were rumored to be discontinued also, but as it turns out, only the yellow,
purple and clear models will be terminated.

After recently installing tha Baja Design kit on mr KLX650A the opinion from one article said up to a 90 watt headlight could be used with stock alternator.

Subject: (klr650) Helix????
Ok, I'm new, and also didn't have a clue as to what a Helix was. But I do
know how to use the web. Below is the link to the Helix home page. My
impression, as compared to the KLR, they're obviously two different things.
Dry weight of Helix is 350lbs......dry weight of KLR is 328lbs. Helix has a
whopping 244CC engine.....the KLR has a.......well, this is the KLR site, so
we all know that one. I'd race it for the pink slips!!! I bet it's fun
to ride around in camp grounds and the infield of a NASCAR race track
though, or maybe up to the 7-11 for a loaf of bread and gallon of milk. I
don't even want to know how much it costs, so that if I ever see someone
riding one, I won't think badly of them......or on second thought, maybe I
can ask them for a $$ loan. Yes, this post is meant to cause some yet to
come smack handing-out.......but I'm looking to change the subject from
people smacking me over a measly little 6 meg picture post!!! Man, I didn't
know!!.....honest! Now I can get yelled at for not be PC enough not to
make fun of scooters, because I'm sure every who owns one loves it. Here's

Kurt,
I tried twisting Ah-chair-bees arm too and got the same answer. "Not
profitable enough for them" I can get you a low "Superbike" front fender
that looks just like the Acerbis in Black, White or Red for about $30.
