  22. Wow, got to say I think that The Spell is on balance a great pop album. It's
  23. not always successful (uh, the rap part comes across as appalling tokenism
  24. to me...), but it's basically excellent. The first five or so songs (plus
  25. Forever) are all winners.

  27. Some of the stylings are indeed very "dance-clubbish" (ie. bubbly analogue
  28. synths), but it's still very much a pop record. For example, judging them
  29. solely as songs and ignoring the production, IMO Open Your Eyes and Walk On
  30. Water are fundamentally pretty similar kinds of songs - that is, completely
  31. brilliant. Great melodies and massive pop choruses. It doesn't get better
  32. than this, surely?!

  34. Alex, please get hold of a copy of The Spell (it's on Amazon if you
  35. otherwise have a problem) - you won't be disappointed.
