Subject: (hats) RE: Cover CD
For the Cover CD, I can help compile and do vocals. I can also encourage.
Those are the easy parts. We all are great fans of the band - that much has
been established by our presence. Also, a good deal of us are musically
inclined. I'm sure at least one person out there can pound out some good
drum beats, and I'm sure many of you can nail some good guitar and keyboard
riffs. If you can play it, lemme know. I can then put you onto a task,
i.e. the keyboards on Antarctica or the drums on I Like. People could send
in tapes of the material, mp3s, even CDs, and I could mix them all together
(taking license to fix tempos and volumes, of course). Drums can easily
synthesized on a decent sound card, and I know a few people in town,
including myself, who can sing fairly well. I just need effort on everyone
elses part. 30 minutes a night after work is not all that much effort - and
it's all I would ask. Music is a cathartic experience, and goes well with
an after work glass of wine. Yes, John, it does sound like an awful lot of
work, and it is - but it's worth it for one reason...it's fun! Anyone
willing to volunteer? To do anything? If I can get 10 people together by
October 1st, I think we have a go. 4 would be enough...but we want this to
be a product of "the list" - the ultimate MWH fans, not a band that formed
on the internet that ZDTV advertises once a month -=).
Anyone else behind me, or am I just an eccentric, babbling egotistical
creep?

I don't have any musical talent, but I could help with burning (and
labeling, etc.) the CDs when they're done.

Yeah, it's been awhile since anyone mentioned the cover cd, hasn't it? I'm
in a band that I guess is punk by default since we're not very good
musicians, and I've always wanted to do some MWH. Also, I play guitar and
piano, but I don't think I have the recording equipment necessary to do an
internet collaboration thing. But if that doesn't matter too much, then
count me in. Maybe we could just do a few songs and post them as MP3s, and
if we continue to do more and get more submissions, we could eventually make
a CD of everything.

I agree completly, and that's my idea. As we get stuff together, post it.
Recording material doesn't have to be great, just something that'll make a
wav file or even a tape. Quality can be worked with by software. This
would by no means be publishing material, but it should still sound good.
We have guitarists, keyboardists, and even someone to help burn stuff. In
total, 4 people are willing to help so far, any others?

no no no no no no and no again... just in case you didn't hear it the
first time. ANY AMOUNT OF SOFTWARE WILL NOT MAKE A CRAPPY RECORDING
SOUND GOOD!!!! it just cant happen. OK, we can clean up tape hiss and
the odd crackle, but anything more than that and you can forget it!

hehehe...don't worry, man, I wouldn't expect it to do anything more than
clean it up. This CD doesn't have to be perfect, just original. -=)

I can play a pretty mean bass guitar, if that's at all helpful. I play
in an alternative rock band and I *might* be able to talk the guys into
helping out too.
