Subject: (gorp) Uintah backpacking
Date: 14 Jul 2000 16:45:11 -0600
Is anyone planning on linking up with the through hikers for a
couple days over a weekend? Steve, do you know about where
you'll be on what days? I'd like to join up for 3-4 days
along the way if possible.

Yes, I am. Val is going to, also. Although I don't know what days yet for
either of us.

Hey,
I could be up for a hike. Isn't there some "castle" thing above albion
that's easy to climb? Do any of you know about that? (how far, where to
start, etc.)
I'll try and remember to research it tonight.
Who else is in?

Are you talking about Devils Castle? Either way, anything up around Albion
or on the other side (L. Catherine) would be great.

Well, Crotty suggested the Albion area, but we didn't decide exactly where,

Mike suggested it yesterday. Said he wanted to go up to the castle

about Devil's Castle. Anyway, I think someplace up Albion would be
great. (Albion is Little Cottonwood, northeastish of Alta)

Hi,
I tried to research, all I found were maps, and no trails were marked. The
castle-thing is at the top of that leftmost lift that you take to get to
Catherine's. I know there are dirt roads leading up it that they used to
construct the lift.
We want to park at the Albion capground/picknick area thing, rather than
at the trailhead further down. If possible. If not park at the trailhead,
walk to the campground, then wander in confusion from there.
OR, park at the trailhead, use the trail to Catherine's lake, then follow
the ridge to the castle. Or just climb the ridge and look around :).
Tom, Albion is the left bowl at Alta.
How about we try to meet at the campground at 6:00, unless we're forced to
meed at the trailhead?
And who want's to ride with me? Let me know so I can plan my time.

Wow, I leave for an hour and there was an email explosion.
So, we are meeting at 6:00 at the campground, or the trailhead
if forced to.
I'd like to ride with someone, or use my vehicle for car pool.
Anyone want to ride with me, or give me a ride?

T and I are going to do our annual impulse Yellowstone trip this weekend.
She's reserving the campsite after work so if you're interested let me
know before 4:30 today. We're going ot be too frantic in September we
think.
We usually just tour around and look at the pools. If we hike it'll be a
short one. No stoping at climbing mecca's in Idaho. Leave after work on
Friday, probably drive home during the day on Monday. It's really really
important that we leave at a decent hour on Friday, because we drive all
the way to our site on Friday Night. I think if we acutally leave at
5:00 it will work, but earlier is better.
