I knew he had a three book deal with Tor for a new
fantasy (from news in Locus) but it didn't give any
particulars. I had been hoping for a new Black Company
novel, but I guess he wants to try something new. I
can't blame him, but I still hope once he's done the
new series, he'll reconsider and give the Black
Company another whack.

I don't know--I really love how Soldiers Live wound things up. If he's as
bored with the BC series as he appears to be with Garrett, I'd rather leave
it where it lies (and just keep rereading them!).

When Soldiers Live was released, it was reported that Mr Cook was no =
longer interested in continuing the series. But he has long admitted =
that he writes for the money, and if he is contemplating another BC =
book, it is probably because his agent is telling him he can make some =
more cash or his publisher is waving a large wad of bills under his =
nose.=20
Last I heard, he was concentrating on a mystery-type story.
I just listen to the rumors and speculation, and smile. If another BC =
book comes out, I'll be happy (and pleasantly surprised), and if not, I =
think the series ended well. Just as long as Mr Cook keeps writing! I =
finished Angry Lead Skies half a year ago and need another Cook fix.=20

ThatÆs true. Soliders Live is a great ending. I was
thinking more along the lines of prequels, stories of
the Black Company maybe just after Croaker joined up,
or even further back. HeÆs given us a lot of history
in the Books of the South, a lot of material he could
use, but IÆm just happy there will be another Glen
Cook fantasy out there.
I wonder if it will be released hardcover? His last
few Black Company books were.
