I had a few views on the Idea of a Black Company Guild in Everquest. First off, let me tell you I have been playing EQ since release and have off and on been playing recently. If you have been playing any amount of time you know that the key to a strong guild is dedicated players. I belong to an Uber Guild on Saryn Server (I had originally been on Bristlebain server at release but movelogged when the opportunity arose) I think you would have more success organizing the Black Company guild on a single server that way you can pool all of your BC fans in one place. I have worn my self out on my characters and maybe a new character on a new server in a BC guild would be cool. Could even figure out a way to play tonk while medding and resting using the random number generator :-) . Also if you didnt know there once was a REALLY good BC guild at the beta/early EQ release time they basically had people play specific characters from the books! One Eye was an Enchanter(Erud), Goblin was a Wizard(gnome), Silent was a human Druid (remember the Stinging Swarm he used in Beryl?) Elmo was a Warrior, the Captain was a Paladin, Raven a ranger so on and so forth. Well in anyway I hope my two coppers is helpful to you.. let me know if you decide to create a BC guild and on what server. Thanks! I don't Everquest (I have broken my MUD addictions!), however I do play something somewhat similar to a MUD. I play on Dragon Court http://wild.ffiends.com/DCourt/Game.stm It is a daily game in which you have a limited number of actions each day that you can do. It is nice in that it limits your actions, thus limiting your addiction. :) There is a clan "The Black Company", however we were unable to get any communation going with them so I resently started the "Black Company" Soulcatcher and Moonbiter are the only two names I was able to get, though I have a Nakar as well. It's in GURPS Fantasy second edition, pg 138, in a discusion on how magic changes the world. In the battle magic section there's a section that reads: "But the world-builder must either accept wizards as the 'arm of decision' in any conflict, or create other limitaions on their power. See Glen Cook's _Black Company_ series for a world in which wizards are decisive in open battle, but still need the support of spies and armies." The copyright date of the book is 1990, 1995.
