  12. Hey, was that a tumbleweed I saw?  Slow times on the old GC list.  =
  13. Anyway, I've been reading the Dread Empire books.  I'd been saving them =
  14. for a rainy day (having read the BC books twice, the Garrett books once, =
  15. and most of his one-offs), and finally got around to them this week.  =
  16. They're a bit rougher than I expected, especially at first, though by =
  17. "All Darkness Met" Glen seems to have hit his stride.
  18.  
  19. Like a lot of people before me, I'm enjoying Mocker quite a bit.  As I =
  20. read, I like to "hear" the characters speak, and I was wondering how you =
  21. all hear him.  I started hearing him with an Indian (i.e., Indian =
  22. subcontinent, not Native American) accent, and ever since I can't shake =
  23. it.  When you read the books, what does he sound like in your head?

  102. Steve,  that's a good take on it.  Maybe that will help me shake the Indian
  103. accent I keep hearing.  He is a great character--for me by far the most
  104. memorable of the series (three books in, that is--I might change my mind
  105. later on).

  268. sometime, too, just to have OTS in HC.

  271. dialogue with Indian and Russian accents, and see if I
  272. can figure out what accent *I've* been hearing it
  273. in...can't say as I recall one, I seem to hear
  274. different tones of voice rather than accents (Mocker's
  275. voice is a little on the high side). I like Haroun
  276. better as a character, not sure what that tells you.
