He sang again in the Disney movie "Beauty and the Beast" the voice of Lumiere the candlestick. "Be our guest! Be our guest! Put our service to the test.."

Sorry to bring up the Napster subject again, but todays New York Times (Thur
Aug 31 2000) has an article re: anti-napster folx, who post bad sound files
(called 'cuckoos eggs') that contain cartoon voices and the sound of a
cuckoo stuck into the middle of the downloadable song.
Wonder if any ones accidentally (or purposefully) downloaded any material
like this...
Maybe its all a self-advertising campaign, but anyways to hear the egg
file or find out the philosophy behind the shenanigans, check out:

Intoxica Records, Portabello Road. YUM. Be prepared for a LOT of vinyl.
Well worth the trip. I also managed to get a good selection of CDs at the
Virgin Mega-Store, Piero Umiliani, Esquivel, and some good soundtracks, and
compilations. Be prepared to spend. :)

Other people that shouldn't make that claim on Broadway recordings:
John Travolta - Dream Drummin' from "Over Here"
Jack Klugman - Together, Wherever We Go from "Gypsy"
The entire original cast of Hair. They may have better moments solo, but
OY those group vocals.

It is pretty great, although it's very short (clocks in at about 28
minutes). Since it's very rare and usually quite expensive, I'd say 'let er
rip'........ assuming of course it's the real Billy May soundtrack on 20th
Century Fox and not one of the kid's record versions of it.

It's not even that complicated; just rename a file and a Britney Spears download is suddenly Eminem and ICP trading homophobic insults. In just the couple of days that I tried using Napster (too much work for too little of interest) I got two of these prankster misnamings, one apparently homemade rap obscenities of no interest beyond the clinical.

I guess, although some definitions fit to these examples, most of us would
rather not think of "exotica" when listening to Grateful Dead or the Residents
or "classic" music. It all comes back to that notorious jazz question we often
discussed. I personally believe, without the jazz element it isn't Exotica. But
somehow I'm not sure about this at the same time. At the edges definitions and
notions fade in and out. If you add the possibility of context, confusion is
complete. Under certain conditions (chemical anyway) anything might become
exotic. I know what you mean though.

I second the vote for Intoxica. Also check out Cheapo Records on Rupert St. in Soho. Rough Trade off of Talbot Rd near Covent Gardens is also a fun place
to visit and they have live bands occasionally as well. Make sure that you check out the Kensington and Camden Markets located on their respective High
Streets.
[sniff] Now I miss London...Waah!

On a related note: I'd really like to see a comp of the worst vocal performances
ever committed to celluloid in a movie musical. The late, great Oliver Reed's
larynx-full-o'-Drano "singing" in Ken Russell's film of the Who's "Tommy" must
surely rank near the top of this particular dung heap. Although Keith Moon as
Uncle Ernie in the very same film would surely come in a strong second, or even
force a tie.
