I won't blame the guy (I assume it's a guy; no female is that shitty with
their money); the seller misrepresented the record, didn't even mention F&T
in the auction (!) and billed it as 'space electronics.' He knew just who
to word that for, apparently.
So, kids, my advice is to exhume those warped ole Lawrence Welk lp's and
slap 'em up online as EXOTICA RETRO OUTER SPACE POLKA LP: RARE! or some
such. Then keep a week's vigil at your monitor and watch the games begin.
LOVE LOVE LOVE the unholy Shriner wars here...a Fezmerizing read.

I got the CD this week for $3.99 from the SF Virgin Megastore clearance
rack and was similarly disappointed. Cranked it up in my car on the way
home and waited for something exciting to happen, but to no avail. Not
complete crap, but kept hoping for some horns or something to help out
the sparse arrangements and the cheeezeball organ. Had to go home and
put on "Soul Pride," the excellent set of JB instrumentals. For sitar
pop I'll stick with Ananda Shankar.
The Ravi Harris CD insert said he also made lengthy tapes of music the
band recorded while stoned on acid, which of course wasn't on the CD.
Now THAT stuff sounds interesting to me (a serious space/feedback
Deadhead from '68-75) tho probably not everyone's cup of tea.

Hi!
Thanks to everyone who emailed me or posted their views on the Cocktail Mix series ~~ I'll definitely ad the series to my collection!
I looked at the Rhino site and they only listed Vol. One and Two in the Crime Jazz series. There is a very interesting looking cd of Film Noir themes ~~ maybe you were thinking of that?
For those on the list who have an interest in 50's thru early 70's jet set/space age moderne furnishings check out: http://www.jetsetmodern.com
everything you could imagine is there ~~ chairs, clocks, telephones, architechture and a page on concept cars from Detroit some of which are truly strange and some of which are really cool.
I worked at a motel that hosted a gathering of Shriners who marched in a parade which is held in town every summer. They arrived tanked, stayed tanked and left tanked. Their first question wasn't 'where's my room?' but 'where's the bar?'
Thanks again for the advice! Cheers!

Disappointing. It's not a remarkable record at all. Mediocre melody, sound,
arrangement. I listened to it once and immediately put it in my fleemarket
outbox. You can have it if you want.

Something's telling me, you are not nice to me... I guess it is this "...*tries*
to say" that you use here. As I never saw Hogan's Heroes I can't read between the
lines what you are talking about. Probably something with Nazis as usual. Don't
worry: I don't want to put you in a gas chamber, just because I use an unamerican
word...

OK, I went through the dictionaries. The word shrine as for a container of ritual
things, later for temple is actually older than the word Schreiner, yet the
latter somehow stems from the first. So I take back my assumption of the Shriners
being a carpenter's guild. The connection between a religious group and a temple
seems more likely anyway.

It is defintely worth picking up, although some of this list's members may
think some of the remixes are to techno-ey.

books. Leonard Maltin's movie guide calls it "worthless".

You're dead wrong there; it's a very beloved show. If you never saw
Hogan's Heroes, you missed what was definitely one of the classic tv
shows of all time. Starred Bob Crane as Col. Hogan, Werner Klemperer as
the monicled Col. Klink, and even Richard Dawson before his fame later on
"Family Feud". It was the story of a German P.O.W. camp populated by
Americans during WW II. Most of the time the action was centered on the
Americans devising ways of trying to escape from the camp, although they
really had a cordial relationship with their German captors (everything
being considered!) Even though the story centers on war time, it was
most definitely a comedy. It's hard to believe you have never seen an
episode of it. It was quite popular during its prime-time run and I'd be
