I don't know if anyone mentioned these already but a few great versions
of "Sunny"' are done by Les McCann, James Brown (duet with a woman whose
name escapes me) and Johnny Rivers. All super cool in their own way.

Talking about Ghost World... A friend found the DVD of Gunaam, the Indian film featured at the beginning, in a store in the Indian section of Queens, in NYC.
So I would guess it must be available anyplace with a big Indian community.
The number shown on the film is the best one, and it lasts much, much longer. There are maybe another four musical numbers and a plot that didn't make much sense -it included stabbings and flying in planes. I saw most of it out of the corner of my eye and paid attention when the music came back.

I heard a real good one done by Earl Grant last night. Ever hear Robert
Goulet's version on "Woman Woman"? Like most everything he does,
embarrassing, but somehow oddly appealing.

Subject: (exotica) re : toast and various mhz
there's a good article in dec 2001 macworld about transfering records to cd.
i don't think the problem is with toast it's that cd players can only play
16 bit, 44.1 kHz aiff files. so it's not the problem with toast per se but
that if you want to play it on a regular cd player it's gotta be at those
specs.
does that answer any questions?
i haven't had any problems with the latest basichip uploads--listening to
the lee hazelwood album right now-wow. i do have a mac which seems to avoid
a lot of problems. i also use a program called soundjam avail. from
http://www.casadyg.com/
and it will convert mp3, aiff back and forth at various bitrates and
whatever. i'm not sure if the free demo version will do this but the upgrade
is only 25 bucks and it's been worth it. again this might only be for macs.
good luck kids.

A slightly more mocking tone perhaps, but apart from that it was almost
exactly the same as this thread. They're talking about burning CD's from
78's, and didn't get down to arguing about the use of wooden vs metal
needles (can't work out the plural for stylus there). But I'm sure that was
scripted for just out of earshot.
The record collectors were well observed, I guess record geeks and comic
geeks are not so far removed. And occasionally the same person. I'm still

Don't be too said. Although seeing the man in personal was great for any true fan, the show itself was considered soso by most people who were there (incl. me). Only Jill Mingo went crazy when Lee gave his famous womanizer version of Whole Lotta Shakin.
Speaking of concerts I regret not having attended, this would be Osvaldo Pugliese in Amsterdam 198...9? or so... Anybody else with sensational regrets?

http://www.soundamerica.com has an amazing collection of theme songs and so
does a site my brother has just told me about:

P.S. Why I remember it, I don't know but here is one of the only lines I
can remember from the "Paul Lynde Show" promotions:
Wife: Hi, honey! How's the rat race?
Lynde: The rats are winning!

Subject: (exotica) Now Sound query
A mystery for the Now Sound experts.
I have a track on cassette which I don't know the name of or the artist. It
is a groovy, mid-late 60's sound, punchy percussion with Hammond and piano
backing which stops every so often with the interjection of a gruff male
voice.
There is a saucy narrative of sorts beginning with statements like
"yes tonight.....tonight I meet you.....hallelujah" and ending up with
"its the sound of Paris.....aaah oui-ah!....give me a light please".
Its very groovy and i am gagging to get the details on it but so far to no
avail.
Also can anyone tell me if there is an album by Roger Mores, possibly called
"the Sound Of...." on Vogue?? I have been searching for years for a track
by him called "airhostess". His sound is quite similar to Horst Jankowski
in his Zabadack/"Jankowski Plays Jankowski" period
Must additionally give thanks for the tip off to "see the cheetah" by Big
Game Hunters which i just came across yesterday. Very fine indeed!
Alan

Does anbody by accident have this? Perhaps even Mr. Hip?
History:
Mrs.Miller gives her angle on the marajuana conspiracy by contributing to the soundtrack of this exploitation film classic. Produced by the legendary Mike Curb.
Mary Jane 95 min, color - 1968 - American International
This exploitation film about the evils of marijuana finds art teacher Phil Blake (Fabian) discovering some of his students are smoking pot. Although he admits to the students he tried it himself in college he is dumber than a bag of hammers about student drug use. Phil has eyes for fellow teacher Ellie (Diane McBain) until he discovers she is the main dealer along with the star of the football team. Susan (Patty McCormick) is all grow up from her appearance in "Bad Seed" and Terri Garr makes a brief appearance as a student. The film is a feeble attempt to cash in on the sensationalism of marijuana use. Richard Gautier co-wrote this unintentionally laughable film along with Peter Marshall of "Hollywood Squares" television fame. Marshall and Gautier prove with this feature they are two of the biggest squares in Hollywood.

I do! This is a great LP! With Mrs Miller sings the title track and there
are some really good instrumentals.
Certainly worthy of a weekly upload. Want it? I'm glad to take requests
and it will be up Monday if you like.

I have it too, it's a very cool soundtrack methinks. with track titles like
"Grass Party" it's hard to go wrong. I think Jack Diamond has a CD reissue
of it on a twofer with "Hell's angels On wheels" by Stu Phillips, which is
even better (has some cool sitar stuff).
just two cents...
