Hello Ginny,
Laura Rubinstein from Steve Moeller's organization asked me to contact
you. She said that Don wants to join the email discussion group that
many advisors in Steve's programs participate in. I'm the administrator
of this email discussion group. If you will send me Don's email
address, I'll add him to the group.

Jeff Salisbury

For our final call on June 27, I have taken on the task of coordinating the
call (yes Mcmenamin, I am still working). I believe that this call, since it
is the final call, should set the stage for our future successess. My
thought is that each one of us go back to what our initial objectives, get a
sense of what we accomplished, and restate what our new objectives are, now
that we are masters of the client centered approach. What are the action
items key to your indiviual success, and what do you need to do in order to
assure success.
By sharing this with each other, we could align ourselves with others with
similar action items and help each other as time goes on.

Subject: [effortless] Business Editor Interview Questions
Date: 12 Jun 2001 14:22:20 -0700
As Mentioned on the recent opp. and ch. call the following are some of the
additional questions I added to my research interview with the Business
editor of our daily newspaper.
How do you decide what articles to write?
Where do you get your information from?
What does your business section mandate? Issues on personal finance or work
related issues or other?
Who is the reporter that deals with the retirement, investment articles?
Do local advisors assist you with topics, data or info?
Who is the financial advisor who is the most visible to you in the
community?
Do you use him for assistance?
How do you determine who to interview or contact if you need input for an
article?
Do you sponsor any retirement financial events for your readers?
Who is your target audience?
I hope this helps.

Please spend some time this week and put down those tasks you think are
crucial to your future success. Our goal is to work together to help
everyone achieve their big picture dream. Please send, via this mail site,
by Friday so we can all review in time for the meeting.
Also, it might be a good idea to include those successes accomplished this
past year. Be they a clearer vision, more sales, commitment to the business,
changed business model, or any of the 100 items we addressed and assimilated
into our practices. It would be good for each person to sit back and
reflect, and for the group, and other groups, to understand the journey.

Regarding my biggest challenge - creating 6 - 8 outstanding strategic
alliances (who will refer at least 2 - 3 clients per year, each) . The
"problem" is to stay on track on what will be a frustrating journey of
disappointments along the way. Time managment is key and persistence a must
(not to mention my call reluctance).
Regarding the successes, they really are too many to list. So many large and
small wins along the way. Off the top - creating a vision, personally and
business wise that fits me, becoming very focused on who I want to work with
and what I wish to do with them, understanding and putting together the fee
conversion program, conviction, conviction and more conviction, knowing where
I want to be 5 years from now, simplifying the tasks necessary to assure my
success (see above), a recognition that the issues and concerns I have about
my business are not isolated just for me - but are issues we all are dealing
with, firing 60 clients, understanding who my PROFILE client is, and so much
more.
All in all, a great year full of successes - it helped to establish the
foundation for the new business model I am now forging and will bring more
financial and personal stability for years to come.

In July we are going to be updating our filing system. Presently we have a
system that has been built over the last 10yrs with the help of previous and
current secretaries. There is presently no overall coordination.
Does anyone know of a company that you can buy a filing system that is
designed for the investment advisor/planner? Seems that there should be one
out there. Topics that range form compliance(which our b/d gives us) to
marketing, to office equipment and ins, employment contracts, etc

David,
Duncan Mcpherson is involved in a joint venture with another company that has
a program that sets up all kinds of systems and procedures. Basically they
will help to set up all office and human resources procedures and manuals so
that someone could walk in and run your business. How much they concentrate on
filing systems, I am unsure. You can learn more by going to Duncan's web site
and there should be a link. I hope this is helpful. Nancy Sash

David,
I suggest you consider going to electronic filing. I have not done so,
but if I were in your position, I certainly would consider it.I think
it's only a matter of time before all of us will be going that route.
There was a representative at our recent Northern California Regional
Financial Planning Conference from laserFiche Document Imaging. His name
is Jefrey Green. I don't have his phone number, but he's located in Torran=
