Oh yea. We haven't had a good 'lectric start vs. kick start discussion on
this list in a long time. The worst part about the 'lectric start model is
deciding what kind of coffee you want to be drinking when you press the magic
button.

I have heard of this routine. It involves sacrificing a virgin and drinking
goats blood after some ceremonial chants to the Carburetor Gods.

...actually Gino, every 3 months we just fabricate one of these posts to see if you're still there.
Also, word has it you've been a real lion on the KLR list and we thought the old kick start discussion
might have a calming affect on you...(g)

Subject: (dr350) shed pounds
Hello all, I've got 99 DR350 dirt model and I was wondering if anyone had
some suggestions on how to shed a few extra pounds off the bike. '
Last week a buddy and I were trail riding along a river and I caught a
little too much traction on a turn and went over the river bank. I dropped
about 12 to 13 feet straight down and landed about a foot from the water,
definitly the worst wreck of my 10+ years of riding. Luckily I walked away
with just some scratches and a sore back. I tell you what, that DR350 is
one tough bike. A broken clutch lever was my only damage. After about a
half hour of lifting my bike up the almost vertical bank I started thinking
how much of a bear it would be to start considering the bike was upside
down. My buddy gave the mighty dr one kick and it started before he
completed a full kick. He rode back to the truck, because I was a little
shaken up, and it rode as well as it did when I first bought the bike. I
definetly convinced that I bought a great dependable bike. Just thought I
would share my story with you guys.

Chris et al-
I can relate to your experience of the DR being able to take it on the chin!
Don't know if you were around when I posted my Colorado trip report, but I
took my 95 SE (suspension, intake, exhaut mods, but stock engine) into some
really tough high altitude no-man's-land
Rocky Mountain trails of 12K+ feet. The little bastard got me into some
VERY tough situations, and even after about 10+ lay-downs and as many
stalls, it got me back out again. That was the ultimate test I could've
thrown at it, and it did great. We got good bikes!

I've heard about the DR 400 also but don't know any details. A lot of
really trick 4 strokes are supposed to hit the market for the '00 model
year is also what I've heard.

Some news which may or may not be news to you guys.
Talking to my dealer he said the '00 DR's will be 400cc liquid cooled bikes
coming in three versions from mild to wild. He said its a totally new
bike.
Not much news besides that. Anyone here more?
Cheers,
Vik
