Subject: (dr350) DR350 web pages
I have been subscribed on this list since it started, but I don't own a
DR350 (pls don't hate me..=)
There is a 50/50 chance I'll be picking up a '98 CDN DR350SE with 1500kms on
it and I wanted to do a bit of research before I decide. Is there a
definitive webpage that lists all the facts and mods people do to there DRs?
I know its all probably been covered here, but I haven't followed the
threads very closely....all I can recall is air box and kouba links...=)
Cheers,
Vik

Vik,
I sent you the DR350 Owners Page, it should help you a lot.
Mike,
I use the Acerbis tank, fits well, no problems, you can ride forever
without worrying about running out of gas. I did not cut off my airbox
lid, I used 8 of the Uifilter vents, without the foam inserts, they just
get sucked out anyway. This lets in a lot of air, you can fit 3 on the
removable left side filter access cover and 5 on the right side of the
airbox. I replaced the carb for the same reason, the stocker would run
on when at idle, very aggravating.

You hit the root on the tooth. Try dealing with Sargent. They are much
more customer oriented. Will build what you want with a 2 wk turnaround.
Unfortunately they don't have the seat bases so you have to supply them.

Subject: (dr350) Starting
I know there was a big discussion on the list about how to start a DR350.
Since this is my most dirt oriented bike to date I was just wanting to
clarify some points so I don't look foolish at the dealership when I test
ride the bike.
1) Which hand do I hold the donut in when starting the bike?
2) Does it matter what type of donut?
3) Do I press the button with my thumb standing behind the bike or with my
index finger standing in front of the bike?
=)
Cheers,
Vik

Vik,
I'm on a diet, so I either have a whole grain muffin or a cup of coffee in
one hand. It is very important that when using your right thumb to start
the bike, you extend your right pinkie finger for effect. This does take
practice, so be sure you take a kleenex to wipe any sweat from your brow.
Sweating when starting an electric start DR350 is unacceptable. Good luck.

I am also on a diet.I hold my egg white breakfast sandwich in one hand
and very carefully and with pinpiont precision accuracy press the button
with the other.I can do this with either hand.My buddy has a 90
kickstart model and for him there is no diet needed he gets a massive
workout every time he needs to start his bike.Since he bought this bike
he is now in great cardiovascular condition.

Subject: (dr350) Flat side carb + ARROW full system
Hi guys,
I have a 1993 Suzuki DR350 S model. My engine is stock and I am using
a Twin Air air filter.
I am planning to buy an ARROW full exhaust system to use along with a
new Mikuni Flat Side Carbs ( 36 mm diameter ). With this mod, my tuner
told me I should expect around 5-7 HP gain (rear wheel power).
These 2 parts will cost me around $600.00, what do you think ?
Anyone has experience with these parts ?
Thanks !

I have tried both; note mine is a 441(cc).
The FS is a pain to jet, takes away some low-RPM response - not a bad thing in
tight trails - and gives (difficult to detect) more high-RPM power.
The stock pumper (on my dirt-version DR) works well with any jetting, and is
very responsive off idle.
White Brothers does not recommend the 36mm FS carb for the stock bore, only for
385cc's up. You'd be better off & have less trouble with a 33mm pumper. If you
go that route get the Motion Pro single cable & CR throttle control.
An economical alternative is the JX needle, spring & pilot/main jets.
Arrow is not something I have seen in the USA. I use the stock-like exhaust
because others have noticed no performance benefits with the aftermarket
offerings.
