Mikko,
Gears jumping out:
I had that in '96 with mine. Be ALARMED! some 100 mls later the gearing =
came out of
the gearbox! The mechanic who rebuilt the engine apperantly forgot to ti=
ghten the
screw, wich holds the gearing-cam in axial position. Since this, i made =

myself :)
If you take of the clutch-cover you can test if it is fixed properly.
Regarding the clutch-springs: You'll need 6 of them. What do you mean wi=
th "primary
driven gear"?

Hi Steve and Ludwig and all the others,
The FUCHS dyno I've used for the test is not (unfortunately !!) my own
dyno. It belongs to the company, and I cannot use it as much as I want.
Actually they're doing testing on it, currently some tests about an
electrical brake for the steel roll. Don' wanna disturb them !!
If I would go to the nearest dealer, it's about $30 for each test. Gotta
negotiate...
To be honest, even tough I always modified my old moped, cars and bikes,
I'll keep my DR stock (except blinkers !!). Even the airbox modification.
It's a bike I won't ride so much time as you all, cause I love changing my
vehicles regularly, I mean almost every year. I think it's always easier to
sell something stock.
If you need more information about hp charts and dynos, ask me !! Another
thing I forgot to tell you : I remember we made a test with a Triumph 900cc
with an old tire. The owner removed the tire to put a brand new one, we
made another test the same day, the rear wheel power was the same minus 2
hp, and the crankshaft power was still the same.
How can we explain that ?
The rear wheel power was different because the tire needs a couple of days
to give his best performance. So the second test was not relevant at all.
Probably the same difference with a new chain...
The strenght of this dyno is to give a very precise measurement of the
crankshaft power. With the help of different elements, especially the
software that calculates all the friction between the engine and the road.
The main data are given by the manufacturers (Suzuki and all the others).
The dyno also measures the slipping between the tire and the roll during
the test... So many parameters to take in account to give a good
measurement !!! Can't imagine !!
Hoping I didn't bother you with all that !! You're gonna know my whole life
soon :<)

I have a '95 DR350SE and am experiencing starting problems as the day goes on. I
ride it strictly in the dirt and have done some mods to it like opening up the
airbox, FMF pipe, and stage 3 jet kit. It starts up fine in the mornings, but as
the day wears on, it will not idle and is almost imposible to start until it
sits for a while.
A friend suggested it may be vapor lock. If so, how can I correct this? If not,
what else might it be?

Hi Ric, I am assuming that your stage three jet kit is a dyno jet product,
and if so what jets have you changed? do you still have the canister and
hose arrangement on the bike? get back to me and lets see if we can figure
this out.

Subject: (dr) Black Plastic
Someone on this list posted a web site with their (Canadian?) DR350. It had
black plastic front and back and side panels. It looked very trick.
My plastic is getting abused and I may change it out later this year. Also,
that front duck-bill stock fender is a bit wide for my tastes.
Does anyone have any info on the black version of the dr350?
I often see the color choice of black when browsing through the fender and
gas tank sections of the catalogs...
Thanks,
