I have my swing arm out on my DR650 and it is the first time I've ever serviced one.
The bike has 10,000 miles on it. I'm thinking I'm just looking for any signs of wear
or bearing roughness or failure is this correct? I'm putting the bushings back in and
rotating them checking for play and smoothness right? I have not removed the bearings
as of yet because the manual says when you do replace them. When I put it back
together I was thinking I'd use some marine lube I have for the buddy bearings on my
boat trailer? Am I on the right track with all this?
Also, I've noticed one of the mounting tabs for the chainguard is gone as well as the
chainguard. What do I risk if I don't put it back on right away?
Thanks,
Kurt

Right on kurt, boat trailer grease is good stuff. I do not have a Chain
guard on my DR350 so far so good. I have the scotts swingarm on mine with no
bracket for it.

When I took the cushion lever apart the needle bearings came apart on one of the
bushings. I assume this is an obvious sign of bearing failure...only thing is it
happened on both sides of the bushing and made me wonder the bearing was desinged to
not be sealed. Is this posible?
The manual lists a special bearing puller and installer tool is there a way around
the special tool? If I get a special tool is there a universal model that I can use
for other jobs? Thanks guys...

Sorry to ask a Suzuki question on the Kawasaki site. But I read an
excellent article on your site about windshields and was wondering if you
knew a link that I could look up the Clearview windshield site? I cant seem
to find it, I looked up the Rifle page and it seems they dont make a
windshield for the DR650,,,,Do you know anyone who does?? thanks,,,
Tim
