   There is some kind of big (big for San Diego) off road event in
Ocotillo wells next weekend.  Is anyone going out there to do some
ryding?  I think I'm going with another rider.  I would be happy to do a

Ugly, but extremely comfortable.  You will love it.  I have heard these
saddles add to the bike's resale value.

I think a bit more expensive than the Corbin.  The Corbin on my DRS is very
nice looking and comfortable.  The Mayer Saddle (similar to the Russell) on
my KTM is even more comfortable.

Comfortable Russel or Gel seats or self modified Corbin seats on DS bikes..   I would
suppose that some people have my problem with SW Louisiana.   To get to some decent
mountain riding and trails, I'm looking at 400 to 500 miles just into the Ozarks of
Central Arkansas. I hate to trailer because once I get there, I hit  the back gravel
mountain roads and trails and work my way across the state. Now, if I had trailered, I
would have to run all the way back to my trailer/truck to start the same trip home again.
With a good seat, I can burn the 500 miles up,  camp/ motel, do 100 to 300 miles across
country, camp/motel burn the 500 or so miles back home.  Course, don't know how many
people do this type of riding.

Andy,
    Thanks for saying something that really needed said. Some of our
"self-righteous" riding brothers seem to feel that only their type of
riding is the proper type of riding. And that the equipment they use is
the only proper type to use on "their" type of bike.
    They should stop and realize that just as there are differences in
people, there are differences in their tastes. Not everyone has the same
advantages as they.
    I'm sure they will be the same ones to criticize me when they see the
way my DR350SE is set up. There is a strange "notch" in the center of my
seat. The bike has been lowered. I carry a large amount of drinking
water. And on and on I could go.
    They are also the people who won't be able to see the physical problems
I have. Or understand that these "modifications" are what allows me to
be able to continue riding, a sport that I have enjoyed for many years,
possibly more years already than they have been alive.
    Andy, it's obvious when looking at your web site that you've done much
riding also. Keep it up, don't worry about what these "little" people
say. Let's see what comes of their riding in 20, 30, maybe 40 years.
They may have even quit riding because they weren't comfortable. Maybe
they are the ones who could learn from us "old folk". If only they would
stop and listen, but typically the young are not made that way. Perhaps
some of them are of "advanced age" as well, and since they don't have
the particular problems that you and I, and I'm sure many others, they
haven't stopped to think that not everyone else are in the same
situation as they. "Walk for a mile in another man's shoes", finish it
yourself, if you have heard it. You all know who you are.
    And by the way, I have a Corbin seat on order.

I agree with you and Wayne, what we're talking about here is a unique thread that isn't
meant to apply to the typical DR rider. My interest in the DR350 and the DR650 is to make
them "adventure tourers" the DR350 for my SO and the 650 for myself. I want a bike that
can carry us 200-300 miles a day on the paved roads minimum (500-700 for me) and be
comfortable in mild off-road settings as well.

I can assure you a Corbin is not a handicap for this kind of setup...

dr is well suited to me because of size weight etc. i really wantedsome
info on the colour of the gel seat just to change the look of the  bike a=

i have new graphics etc.

Sounds great... I guess the threads got mixed up.  I was responding to the
fellow who was looking for opinions on the Russel Day Long seat for his
DR350.
