From: "Gene Kannenberg, Jr." <epk93002@uconnvm.uconn.edu>
Subject: (cbiz) Announcing: Comics Scholars' Discussion List
COMIXSCHL-LIST, the comics scholars' discussion list, serves as an
academic forum for those involved in research, criticism and teaching
related to comics art. All aspects of comics and cartooning from
around the world are open for discussion. Likewise, theoretical and
critical perspectives from all academic fields are invited. The
list's common ground is its foundation in scholarship and its
willingness to examine all the givens of comics form, history,
fandom, etc. This is not the place to seek topics for research
papers. It *is* a place to debate theoretical and historical issues;
post course syllabi and assignments; call attention to potentially
useful scholarship and other resources; and call for submissions for
books, journals, and conferences. COMIXSCHL-LIST is also a place to
discuss job searches, pedagogy, library acquisitions, conferences,
financial resources, and other institutional factors that affect
comics scholarship.
If you do not care to listen to such academic conversations, then
this list is not for you. Please understand that COMIXSCHL-LIST
focuses on the means and ends of scholarship, and that our
discussions will venture far afield from the immediate interests of
most comics fans.
Bear in mind the above mission statement when posting to
COMIXSCHL-LIST. New subscribers are invited to introduce themselves
by completing the Subscriber Questionnaire (sent in a separate
mailing) and posting it to the list.
To subscribe, send a note to me, not the list:
<epk93002@uconnvm.uconn.edu>. When you're added, you'll receive
a full copy of the charter and an optional but encouraged New
Subscriber Questionnaire. A web page for COMIXSCHL-LIST may be
found at:

Subject: (cbiz) TRANSMETROPOLITAN #17, Jan/99 INSTRUCTIONS on T. Casey Brennan
Most people are not aware than a former comic book
writer (me) has offered direct evidence and testimony
on the JFK assassination. Warren Ellis mentioned my
work in TRANSMETROPOLITAN #17, but was not aware that
what I had written was not fiction, but
autobiographical. I recently e-mailed Ellis' other
publisher, Avatar Press, and got this back (see
below). Comic book professionals should be aware of
the statements I have made, and that they have been
made not as entertainment, but as evidence.
